Hi I'm Alayna

I grew up in the Midwest. I love to swim. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived most of my life in Oklahoma and Missouri. I loved living in the Midwest. The people are so friendly and hospitable, any one can feel at home. At a very young age I learned how to swim. I remember spending every day of my summers swimming in the backyard. This love carried over into high school when I joined the swim team. I swam all throughout high school and loved it. Also at a young age, I learned how to play the piano. This is another hobby that has been consistent throughout my life. Playing the piano is very calming and is a great escape from the stressful and hectic days that we all have. Ever since I can remember, I wanted to come to college at BYU. I had the opportunity to do so, and came to school here in Provo after high school. While I miss the Midwest, I love coming to school here. It is a great atmosphere - not to mention the perfect snow for skiing. I have learned so much through different experiences in my life, and I'm excited to see where it continues to take me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I can't imagine my life without the peace and happiness that this gospel brings. There is so much direction in my life because of this gospel. I know where I am going, and what I'm working towards. I may have bad days, but there is a constant joy in my life that comes only from being part of this gospel and living as directed by the leaders of this church, who are directed by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I am happy because I know that Jesus Christ died for my sins. Everyone in this world does dumb stuff. But through Jesus Christ, our mistakes can be forgotten if we just have faith in Him and do as He asks. I know that when I live how Heavenly Father wants me to live, I will be blessed. The bad days come and go, but being part of this gospel has brought me joy that is always present.

How I live my faith

When I was in high school I tried to make it known to others that I was a Mormon. Most people I was around did not know much about Mormons, so I tried to be a good example of who a Mormon is. A lot of times, when people found out that I was a Mormon, they were surprised because I was not crazy or weird. I did my best to set an example to others, and try to teach them a little about our church in a non-threatening way. One summer, I was a sunday school teacher in my ward. I had the opportunity to teach the adults of our ward every other sunday for 4 months. I learned so much about the gospel during that time and my love for it grew greatly. I have always loved teaching others about the church, so I recently made the decision to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was called to serve in Peru, and so I am now training to be a missionary in Peru and to spread the beautiful message of the gospel to those who need it.
