Hi I'm Brett

I study accounting, I love volleyball, mountain climbing, and reading. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up between California and Utah, moving back and forth between the two. I always enjoyed reading, and as a child, was a huge believer in hiding books under the blankets and reading by nightlight! During the winter, my favorite spot was on top of the heating vent, curled up with a book. As I grew older, I began to play sports more seriously, and got into volleyball. I love the sport, and I began to play as often as I could. I played for both school and club teams, and enjoyed the competitive nature of the sport, as well as the teamwork that it required. I enjoy solo sports as well, such as mountain climbing and biking, as the only competition is yourself. It's a blast to constantly try to get better, improve, and see the results that come as a result from hard work. After graduating high school, I spent a year at BYU studying accounting, and then left on a mission for the Church in Chile. My time in Chile means more to me than perhaps any other time in my life. It has changed me profoundly, and I feel like I am a better person as a result of my mission. There can be no other feeling better than that of helping someone to grow closer to their Savior, and help them to feel the love that God has for them.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are Mormon. I think for a long time that was my reason for being a member of the Church. However, at some point, I realized that I couldn't live off of borrowed light, so to speak. I realized that it was time to figure out for myself if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints really was the Church of God on the Earth, or just one more benevolent religion that helps mankind. I took the promise found in the Book of Mormon very seriously: read it, ponder about it, and pray to God to find out if it truly is the word of God. It was only after receiving a very clear testimony that the Book of Mormon was true did the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints truly become MY Church. Since that moment, I have tried to live according to that testimony that I have been given by God of the truthfulness of that book. Thanks to a loving Heavenly Father, I know what I need to do in my life, and what my purpose is. I love the Book of Mormon, and I love the Church, and both have blessed my life more than anything else.

How I live my faith

I currently live in Chile serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, trying to help as many people as I can to feel the happiness that comes from following our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
