Hi I'm Stephen Garner

I've grown up in Utah just outside of Salt Lake City. I'm going on a mission in Atlanta Georgia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 years old right now. This summer I will leave to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Atlanta Georgia. I'm currently a Junior at a University, and after my mission I aspire to go to law school. Some of the things I like to do in my spare time are outdoors activities. I love to go hiking, biking, and play sports.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was born into a family who all belonged to the church. Through my upbringing I always knew that this was the true church, but when I reached my teenage years I started to stumble in my testimony. Religious matters slowly started to become less and less important to me. When I turned 19 everyone started pushing me to serve a mission. This was one aspect of the church that I never felt would be a part of my life. I reached my Junior year of college and was feeling great about the academic success I was achieving at my age, but there was something missing. I attended a church session randomly with my family again, and a man got up on the podium and talked about missionary work. I don't know why, but for some reason the words he said stuck with me.There was something about it that just seemed right. I wanted to go out and help others. Throughout my preparations I decided to read The Book of Mormon. There was a certain spirit that came as I read that book and prayed. By the time I was finished the spirit had made it known unto me that this was all true, and what I was doing was right. I was able to gain a testimony of Christ the only begotten son of the living God. Also, a testimony of Joseph Smith and the Restoration of Christ's church on the Earth today. I'm so happy to have found that truth in this life, and can't wait to serve my Lord in Atlanta, Georgia.

How I live my faith

I am actively involved in my church, and am currently serving as a Sunday School Teacher for the youth. I enjoy preparing lessons for them to help inspire them to follow Christ. I spend a lot of time studying the gospel, and preparing spiritually, physically, and mentally, for my mission service in the Atlanta area. I try and read Preach My Gospel and the scriptures daily to help me obtain great scripture knowledge before my mission, and also help my testimony continue to grow. I also enjoy attending Institute classes through my University. There I have the opportunity to study, share, and discuss The Gospel of Jesus Christ. In my daily life the gospel has inspired me to look out to others, and ways that I can serve them. I try everyday to make people smile, and help them realize that they are more special then they could ever comprehend. Though I mess up frequently... I try my hardest to reflect my Savior's love through my actions, words, and thoughts, no matter where I may be.
