Hi I'm Jacob Oakley

I am serving my mission in San Diego, California. I played Oklahoma football, I am a ballet dancer, I draw, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. I moved to Jenks, Oklahoma the summer before my sophomore year. I played as a defensive tackle for my football team during high school. My football team won the Oklahoma State Championship my senior year. During the football off-season I took ballet classes. I performed as the Mouse King in Nutcracker two years in a row along with my yearly dance recitals. In addition to performing arts, I also draw and paint. I am currently serving my two year mission in San Diego for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love it out here!

Why I am a Mormon

I used to be a member only because my parents raised me in the Church, but as I studied the scriptures and prayed, I knew on my own it was true. The only way to know if the gospel and doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is from God and divinely inspired is to study and pray about it yourself. God will reveal the truth to those who seek after and live His teachings. I know that Jesus is our Savior. He suffered for our sins and was resurrected so we can have eternal life. The Book of Mormon is true and its teachings will bring anyone closer to Christ and our Heavenly Father. The Book of Mormon was translated by a divinely inspired prophet, Joseph Smith, and that God has restored His Gospel to the earth again. I know that the authority and power of God is on the earth once more. I know that God is our Heavenly Father and He loves all of us individually.

How I live my faith

The easiest sign of how I am living my faith, is the fact that I am currently serving my two year mission. I try to treat others with charity and love, the way Christ would if he was in my place. I work towards making my character and attributes as close to Christ's as I can. I try to be a good example to others and I uphold the standards that God has given us.
