Hi I'm Alexandre

I've grown up in Utah. Service is my passion. The Kenya Nairobi Mission is where I will serve. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I've been raised in the Church; though, up until recently (now being March 2013), I have not had a really strong testimony. I've had my struggles, and almost fell away from the Church several times. Music saved me though. My best friend showed me a song, and it gave me the desire to find Christ. I gained back, and strengthened my testimony; it is ever growing. Long story short, I'm leaving on a Mission March 20, 2013. I'm going to Kenya, and am looking forward to serving my Lord through my fellow man. Music has always been a big part of my life, and anyone who knows me can tell you the truth of that. I like almost any song, as long as the Moral is good. I specifically like listening to Britt Nicole, and Brandon Heath; their music has helped me through my darkest days. I've played the piano for 7 years, and LOVE the Piano Guys as well. They all have such strong testimonies, and are just trying to share the Gospel through music. I've loved to read since about half way through kindergarten: when I found out it was fun. Since then, I've read Hundreds of Books, including The Book Of Mormon, The Doctrine And Covenants, as well as the Old and New Testament. I love seminary, and believe that it's a good environment to learn in.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is right. Through experiences of mine, I've discovered that God is our Father in Heaven; that he LOVES us. He gave his Only Begotten Son, so that we can live with him again. Christ was willing to, and DID, pay for our sins. We to accept his sacrifice, so that he did not suffer in vain. The Holy Ghost WILL guide us, but we need to listen. I know that the Book of Mormon was translated by the Power of God, through Joseph Smith. Through him, the Lord has restored his Church on this earth again, in this day. I know that President Monson, and all before him, are Prophets, Seers, and Revelators. I know that the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are Prophets, Seers, and Revelators. I believe that music is powerful; it has the power to build, and destroy. We need to be careful about the music we listen to. Make sure you are being uplifted at all times during a song, never being drawn down or even just feeling "flat". Service is essential to God's plan, and I have chosen to serve a mission because of that knowledge. "when you are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17) I believe that God's government has the family at its center. Without family, it would not be possible to become gods ourselves. Sealing families together is essential to eternal happiness. These things I know to be true, and I say them in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I have grown up giving service. As a little kid, I grew up next door to a nursing home/rehabilitation center. My family would go and have Family Home Evening with them once a month. When we first started, my older brother told my parents, "Dad! That was not fun for me!" They used that to strengthen their testimonies of service, and to help us (their children) to gain our own. Over the years, we became happy to help the "Old Folks" find joy. We did much more service as the years went by. I've always found Joy in helping others. My role in my ward, now that I look back to being a youth, was to help the others my age love it too. It's amazing how much fun you can have with a group of young men raking leaves!

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

The men hold the Priesthood, and the woman do not, because the Lord has made it that way. However, I believe that the woman have a power of equal importance. It is the power of creation. Without the Priesthood, I believe that men would be far inferior to woman. EVERY woman has the power to create, and EVERY man needs to be worthy to hold the Priesthood. It is as simple as that in my mind. As for how the woman lead in the Church, they have an organization that reaches to every corner of the Church called the Relief Society. They have Presidents and councilors, leaders in humanitarian efforts, and much more. Not to mention the fact that they help their Husbands in their callings; who, let's face it, need all the help they can get. Thank you woman, for all that you do! Show more Show less
