Hi I'm Jonathan

I graduated from home school. I am the twelfth of thirteen children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a small farm with cows and chickens. I love classical music. I played the mandolin and tin whistle in a Blue Grass/ Gospel/ Country band. I plan on being an Electrical Engineer.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an active family in the church and so I was very active myself, but eventually I realized that I could not rely on my family's belief alone, so I dutifully studied the Book of Mormon and asked questions and prayed for understanding. Slowly the assurance came that the Church was true, and that Joseph Smith was a prophet. That was the beginning of me testimony that the Mormon church is the church of Jesus Christ and is directed by him through living prophets. That testimony has grown stronger as I've consistently studied the scriptures, gone to church, prayed, and shared what I know to be true with others. I have tried to act on that knowledge and be the best Mormon I can be. As far as I have succeeded my faith has grown stronger and my joy more full. I feel more at peace with myself and with others. I feel closer to God and feel His love for me. I am happier now than I ever have been.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a missionary in the Idaho Boise Mission. I look for opportunities to serve everyone around me. I do my best to follow Christ's example by loving everyone and helping them feel the love that Christ has for them. I try to recognize the things I am doing wrong and repent by praying and asking for forgiveness and striving to be better. Sometimes I feel exhausted like I am wearing out and can not keep up with everything I am supposed to do, but as I turn to God for help he always blesses me and I have the stamina to continue. These are the moments when my joy is full and I am filled with gratitude. I strive to help those around me to experience the same happiness that I have.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family is important because we believe that families can be together forever! Not,only the family we are born into, but as our Heavenly Father's children we can live together forever with Him. Because families can be together forever and the greatest happiness comes from having an eternal family, besides our relationship with God our relationship with our family should be our highest priority. We seek to strengthen our family by loving each other, showing that love be being kind respectful and helping one an other. Heavenly Father stands ready to help us in this quest. When we ask for His help He will counsel us on how to be a better husband and father, wife and mother, son or daughter. He will give us the strength we need to achieve an eternal family. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Not every one is blessed with an ideal family situation. Serious differences may exist. Sometimes everything we do cannot unit our family. But, we are promised that if we are faithful to God's commandments no blessing will be withheld from us. Show more Show less
