Hi I'm Kevin

I grew up in Reading and now live in Stafford, both in England. I'm married with three children and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am married with three grown-up children who are also Mormons and active in the faith. They are a joy to me and have given me 5 beautiful granddaughters I have a passion for family history and believe that I will one day be reunited with my deceased ancestors. I love wider social history as it provides a context in which to place my ancestors' lives My employment involves working with colleges to provide training and skills for people working in the built environment. I am an active participant in the residents association where I live and enjoy the interaction this gives with others. I am also a member of my local history group

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was eleven years old, in 1970. My parents and I were taught by the missionaries although I can't remember much about those lessons. What I do remember is the warm feeling they brought into our home and the popcorn they cooked for us after each lesson. Looking back, I realise I did not have a testimony at that time, I just followed my parents. In my teenage years, I struggled with church attendance and didn't work very hard to develop a testimony. However, after getting married to a girl who I had met at a church dance, I decided that I needed to change things. I started attending church again and began reading the Book of Mormon seriously for the first time. Over time, I came to know that this book is the word of God and contains the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I also came to know that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God. Gaining this testimony helped me to grow closer to my Saviour, Jesus Christ who I know is the son of God (my Heavenly Father). How grateful I am to know that for me, he was willing to fulfil the demands of justice for the sins that I have committed. I don't know everything about the Gospel, the Church or its members, but I know enough to realise that keeping the commandments and following the counsel of living prophets and apostles brings happiness in this life and the promise of being able to live with God when I leave this mortal existence.

How I live my faith

I am a member of the Stafford Branch of the church. I have a responsibility within the church that involves travelling around the Northwest of England and North Wales, teaching and supporting the 200+ full-time missionaries who serve there. I also teach and speak to members of the church in the chapels and meetinghouses that cover the area. My wife travels with me and we enjoy our journeys together. I am not perfect, nor anywhere near it, but I try to live my life a little better each day.
