Hi I'm Alex

I was born in Texas. I lived in Juarez, Mexico until I was 12 years old. I am a convert. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Although I was born in Texas, I lived in Mexico most of my life. At the age of 12, my family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in the United States. I was terrified to live in the US because I didn't speak much English at the time. After a couple of weeks in Utah, I was introduced to scouting and I learned so much about a lot of things, especially that I should've packed better during my first camp out. During high school I played football and ran track. I also took a year of debate, played in the bowling team and was part of the physics club. After high school, I attended one semester of college at the University of Utah. I am now preparing to serve in the Bulgaria Sofia mission.

Why I am a Mormon

The short answer: because I believe in the doctrines and principles taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints. Here's the long answer. I used to be a member of the Catholic church but there were a lot of things that did not make sense to me. Even though there are prayers in the Catholic, there all memorized and I never felt a real connection with my Heavenly Father. When I joined the LDS church, I was able to feel close to my Heavenly Father and actually feel like one of His children. I was able to feel the Spirit and I felt as if I was coming home; to a place were everyone loves me and I love everyone there. But don't get me wrong, people in the Catholic church are great people and I love them. Every day I see the blessings of the decision I made to get baptize and every day I thank the Lord for the church and all its members.

How I live my faith

I try to live every day the way our Heavenly Father would want me to. I attend the Institute of Religion constantly and enjoy learning about the Gospel. I try to read and pray every day in the morning and at night. I go to church every Sunday and attend church activities as often as possible. I try to be as nice as possible to others and try to be as charitable as I can.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

I think the reason why the church grows is because of the truthfulness and logic of our message. Not only that but also because of the members which are part of it. All members strive to be more like Jesus Christ and they all strive to be better neighbors, better, friends, and better family members and all this makes people curious about our beliefs and why we are always tying to be better.
