Hi I'm Jeff Starr

I grew up in Orange County, California. I work in Education. I love the youth. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I love our family of five. We enjoy quality time with them as we spend time together at the beach, mountains or the desert. We encourage our children to invite their friends into our home. I am an educator and enjoy working with all youth.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a very strong active family in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I still wanted to have my own personal conviction that it was the true church. We had family night once a week where we gathered as a family and learned to sing and conduct music, give lessons from the scriptures, have fun activities, share stories and recite poetry, and learned to conduct a meeting. We had family scripture study each morning and family kneeling prayer morning and night together. We always ate dinner as a family at 5:30 PM every night and there discussed our daily activities and calendars. We attended church each Sunday. All of these experiences, though simple in form and fashion, gave me the necessary tools need to gain a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through family prayer I had witness so many time our Heavenly Father's love for each of us by His willingness to answer our prayers. Although I knew it to be correct and true, I wanted my own conviction. By humble prayer and with simple questions, I received personal confirmation that this is the true Church the the Lord has established here on earth. We enjoy the blessings of His Holy Priesthood that gives us authority to act, serve and work in His name. I have found great peace and comfort by living the precepts of the gospel. I know it to be true. I know that Heavenly Father loves us and has provided a way for us to do what is needed to return to Him after this short time on earth. I know that Christ, because of His love for Heavenly Father, was willing to suffer for our sins in Gethsemane and die for us, only to rise again. This beautiful gift, known as the atonement, allows me to rid myself of my daily shortcomings and transgressions so that I may become clean. What a wonderful plan. To me it is simple and thus beautiful. This simple knowledge brings such peace and joy.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to work with the 12 to 18 old youth in our community. Some of these opportunities involve teaching, planning and guiding. I am involved in the Boys Scouts of America and enjoy participating on overnight camp outs. All of these events previously stated create great opportunities to share with the youth what peace and comfort the gospel brings to me. Anything that I find positive, I always want to share with others so they too can enjoy. I have personally witnessed other accept the gospel and enjoy this peace and comfort it affords. We just completed an activity called Roadshow that is a 15 minute musical performance which allows the youth to act, sing and dance with wholesome music focused on a principles found in the gospel. Fifty-five youth were involved and had a wonderful experience. We had youth from other churches join us and they had a remarkable time too.
