Hi I'm Mary

I am a mom of 4 amazing children. I love to serve and help others. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom and I have 4 beautiful children who are now all in school. I have started working outside my home, a little, doing house cleaning. My passion is my family though. Being outside and being active together brings me the most happiness. My husband and I enjoy working on projects together. We also really focus on feeding our family good and healthy food to nourish their minds, bodies and spirits. I love reading with my children, books like Harry Potter or the Chronicles of Narnia are some of my favorites.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon but when I was 18 years old I stopped going to church and stopped doing all the other religious things that I had been taught. Eight years later, married with 2 wonderful children I felt that there was just something lacking in my life. President Hinkley, the prophet at that time, had asked all the members of the church to read the entire Book Of Mormon by the end of the year. It was a world wide challenge to read this book in a few months. I had heard about this from my family. I talked with my husband about it and indicated to him that I might do this just to see what would happen. As I began to read something did start to happen. I began to change. My heart began to change. The more I read the more that I went to church, the more that I felt kinder, the more I smiled. By the end of November I decided that I had to make a decision that either I was going to start going to church regularly and become a full member again or I was going to have to give it up all together. I did not want to be half and half, it was all or nothing for me. So I prayed like I never had before and the answer was just clear to me in my heart and mind of what I needed to do. I know that reading the Book of Mormon changed my life and changed the life of my family. I see so many blessings and miracles have to come into our live because of the gospel of Jesus Christ. My 2 oldest children have now been baptized and we all go to church together every Sunday. I have gone to the temple and received more blessings by doing that. My life has so much peace in it now and I know that I am where I need to be. I know that the Book Of Mormon had the power to change hearts and change lives, it did to me.

How I live my faith

I always try to say kind things and do kind things for others so that they feel noticed and loved. I feel that when I help others it strengthens me and gives me more than I have given them. As a family we discuss daily what kind things we have each done that day, not to brag but to lift and strengthen each other. I teach the 4 year olds at church, they have such sweet spirits and they often know more than I think that they will. I also serve in the women's organization and love spending time with other women who lift me and share their light and knowledge with me. I continually reflect on the things that I do and say to make sure that they bring a good feeling to those around me and help them feel good about themselves. The movies that I watch and music that I listen to I make sure that they are uplifting and positive in my life, I avoid media that is degrading or just mindless. How I spend my time is the best indicator of what is important to me and I want to spend my time serving and helping others.
