Hi I'm Brendon White Holland

I'm a high schooler from New England, preparing for college and to serve a full-time mission.

About Me

I love being active. My entire life is spent at school, seminary, church, or playing sports or music. My favorite things to do outside are soccer, sailing, hiking, and swimming. Growing up in New England, I've gotten to spend a lot of time outside at the beach and in the woods! I spend the majority of my free time playing music. I play the clarinet, guitar, and bass guitar. I spend most of my weekends at the park playing frisbee with my friends or at dances. I'm a friendly guy, and love meeting new people! I'm currently preparing for college and to serve a full-time mission on top of everything else. Life is always busy, but I love everything I do!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but I didn't truly experience the change of heart that Alma describes in Alma Chapter 5 until April 2010, just a few months before my fifteenth birthday. The Sunday before Easter, my father gave a talk in Sacrament Meeting on the Atonement and Bruce R. McConkie's talk The Purifying Power in Gethsemane. During his talk, I felt the Holy Spirit like I never have before. The Spirit bore witness to me that Jesus Christ loves me enough that He atoned for my sins that I may become spotless like Him. From there, my testimony began to grow. That July I attended a camp run by BYU, Especially for Youth. Surrounded by hundreds of other kids who have the same standards as I do, my newly found testimony became so much stronger in a matter of days. For practically every minute of the entire week, I felt the Holy Spirit and my Savior's love for me. In August 2012, my testimony made another leap forward, this time with a priesthood blessing. I was having a hard time. A lot of my friends were either moving or leaving for college, including two of my three best friends ever. I asked my one remaining best friend, a priest from the Albany, New York Stake, if he could give me a priesthood blessing. He had lost his testimony somewhat over the past couple years, and it was a big deal to me that he was worthy to give me this blessing. He laid his hands on my head, and gave me the most beautiful blessing I have ever heard. He blessed me with strength and the ability to find new friends. This past year has been the best year of my life, and I know it would've been the worst if this faithful young man hadn't given me this blessing. I know that, through my faith and the faith and worthiness of my best friend and the priesthood he held, he was able to give me a blessing from my Heavenly Father, for which I am eternally grateful. I know my Savior lives and atoned for my sins, and only through faith in Him will I be saved.

How I live my faith

I go to an inner city high school in Springfield, MA where, like most high schools in the world, immorality and temptations are forever present. The only members of the church at my school other than me are my brother and father, which makes me feel really alone sometimes. However, I've surrounded myself with good friends that support me in what I do. I take every opportunity I can to share the Gospel with people I know. In preperation for my upcoming full-time mission, I spend a lot of time going out with the Missionaries in my ward to teach lessons to members and investigators. I love my faith, and the huge amount of opportunities I get to share the Gospel I get from living in an area with very few members. I live by the words of Thomas S. Monson: "Be courageous and prepared to stand for what we believe, and if we must stand alone in the process, may we do so courageously, strengthened by the knowledge that in reality we are never alone when we stand with our Father in Heaven." I'm a Mormon. I know it, I live it, I love it.

In whom should we have faith?

My faith and testimony are centered around my Savior Jesus Christ. I love Him, and I know that only through His atoning sacrifice am I able to become spotless and live with my Heavenly Father again. Show more Show less
