Hi I'm Karly

I'm 19, I'm a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 19, I am a student at Brigham Young University and I have about one semester of college left, but I've put it all on hold to serve a mission. I am serving in the Ukraine, Kiev mission and it is the most fulfilling thing I have ever experienced. Overall, I feel I'm a normal person, except that I have this wonderful gospel in my life that brings the purest joy to me, and I want nothing more than for others to feel that same happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

Most people could think that since I was born into the Mormon church, I really had no other choice. But I feel like that is the beauty of our religion - that you have to discover the truth for yourself, and make your own personal commitment to it. And I've done that. For me, it wasn't just this overwhelming experience that made me feel of the truth, but it has been a conglomeration of the small and simple things throughout my life. And more than anything, I would say I am a Mormon because of the joy it brings to me. There is nothing more fulfilling than this gospel. There is nothing that can bring you more joy, than a religion that asks you to sacrifice in order to gain more, than a religion that asks you to lose yourself in service, than a religion that places the Atonement of Jesus Christ in the center of your life. Because no act can testify of a deeper love than that of the Atonement. Nothing brings me greater joy than to know that I can make up for my imperfections. Through the atonement, I can be cleansed of my sins. But through the Atonement I know peace and comfort. I know that our Savior has felt all of our pains, weaknesses and trials and as such we can turn to Him and He will comfort your souls as He has mine, time and time again. The knowledge that He not only knows me as an individual, but He also loves me individually, is the greatest joy I have ever felt. His love for me is why I am a Mormon. Because I know with all of my heart that this is His church, and that it is true.

How I live my faith

I have always participated in my ward however I am needed. I have taught classes for them, and I have been in leadership positions. However, I've also just served people by handing out written compliments to members of the ward. I try to live my faith by living the things I believe each day, and by finding every opportunity to serve others around me. And now I am devoting 18 months of my life to the service of God - preaching the gospel to the people of Kyiv, Ukraine. My days are devoted to the full entire service of my God, and to His children and His purpose. And I live my faith by doing the best I can, each day, to help others to feel of God's love, which is unconditional and everlasting.
