Hi I'm Sonic

I was born in the church and raised in Hong Kong, moved to Australia when I was 10. I'm currently a full time missionary.

About Me

First of all you must be wondering about my name, I was born in Hong Kong and my Chinese name is Yiu Hang Chung. When I was around 6 I needed a English name for primary school and at that time I was playing the game "Sonic" so I decided to use the name Sonic as my English name. I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our family moved to Australia in 2005. Learning English was definitely one of the hardest thing to do in my life as I was very little when we moved to Australia. I am a graduated year 12 student and I only have one younger sister in my family. My hobbies are drawing, playing piano, computer games and socializing with my friends. I am currently a full time missionary assigned to the Japan-Fukuoka mission. After I get home from my mission, I hope to get into a University and hopefully I can study something like chemistry or music.

Why I am a Mormon

As I've said, I was born in this church, however, even though I was born in the church I, too need to build my faith and gain a testimony. Over the past few years in Australia, I have made so many wonderful friends in the church who helps me whenever I needed help, this has become one of the many reasons why I stayed active in the church. I really like this church because I have seen miracles from it and I know it to be true. The spirit that you feel is truly amazing and it can move one to tears. I know that this church is true and that we have a living prophet today that guides and directs us in the straight and narrow path. This gospel means a lot to me and I can't imagine living a life without it, it has helped me so much in fighting through trials and challenges in my life and I'm really grateful for it. I hope I can share the gospel with whoever is reading this if they are not a member already! :)

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping out the church whenever it needs me. My calling as a full time missionary allows me to invite others to come unto Christ. I wake up every morning at 6:30am to be able to live the missionary standards in order to have the Lord by my side and that I may be able to teach by the spirit. I know that choosing to be a missionary was the most correct decision that I have ever made in my whole life and seriously, I could not be doing something better right now, I love Japan so much. Personal study is one of my favorite time during this mission because through this time, I'm able to devote all my time studying the scriptures and reading the Book of Mormon and to get a better understanding of Christ's doctrines. Without this church, I would not be who I am and who my Father in Heaven wants me to be.
