Hi I'm Naomi

I'm a world traveler hopeful, sports fanatic, college student. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Montana where my 4 siblings and I spent nearly every moment outside, not always willingly. Having grown up in Montana I didn't recognize the beauty that surrounded me until I moved to Idaho to go to college. I am currently in my second year of college here in Idaho and am majoring in Public Health but am now transferring to BYU. I am in love with watching college basketball and my favorite teams are Duke and, of course, BYU. Basketball isn't the only sport that I love to watch but also football, track, cross country and a new found obsession for rugby. I am enthralled with the idea of traveling to foreign places and my newest place I am currently working towards going to is Africa!

Why I am a Mormon

Because I grew up in the church with parents who were both very involved in callings and activities throughout the church some may say that I had no choice in becoming a Mormon. However, as I have grown older and have lived on my own I have come to my own realization as to why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I can't imagine living my life without knowing that I have a Heavenly Father who is able to answer my prayers and does answer them. Without my faith I wouldn't have the courage to decide on a major, who I am going to marry, or what I am supposed to be doing with my life. Being a Mormon helps me to have the courage to make the hard decisions in life with confidence.

How I live my faith

I have had many chances to serve throughout the church in different areas, including, working with the youth, leading music, and visiting fellow women in my ward. Doing all of these things have helped me be more motivated to live the ways that the church has taught are correct. However, I think the biggest and easiest way that I demonstrate how I live my faith is simply by living the teachings that I am taught every week in church. Every week we are taught of the love that Christ has for each and everyone of us and I think that that is the best way for me to live my faith. I make an effort to have Christ like love to those around me through patience, kindness, faith, and trust in all of the people that I interact with.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

One of my most favorite things about being a Mormon is all of the service that we give to others of all different religions and even those who don't have a religion. I have had many opportunities to help serve those in my community through cleaning baseball fields, visiting the elderly in rest homes, helping lay sod and assisting people moving into new homes. Often times if you watch the news after a recent disaster you will see a group of people wearing yellow vests helping clear debris or handing out waters or doing any other types of service. More often then not those are Mormons. The amount of service that the church gives is one of the reasons why I am proud to be a Mormon. Show more Show less
