Hi I'm Heidi

I am a mom of seven children and now a grandmother of two! I met my husband of 30 years at BYU. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a member of the Church all my life. However, we left the more populated Mormon communities of the west, and after moving eleven times, ended up back east for many years before I graduated from high school. It was hard to move so often and always be the new kid on the block. But I think having to make new friends all those moves has helped me to stretch and be more welcoming and friendly with others. Moving so often has also had a huge influence in how I've raised my children. I've tried to teach them to always look for the child at school who may be new or lonely. That was often me!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have ancestors who crossed the plains as Mormon pioneers. But at some point, we all have to decide for ourselves. I trusted my parents and relied on their testimonies as a child, and learned to recognize the special feelings that came when I heard truth. I felt it as a youth and I feel it now as an adult. It's a knowledge that allows me to send my sons out into the world for two years because I know they will be bringing this message to bless the lives of many others. And isn't it my responsibility to share something that I know will bless the lives of those who accept it? I would be so selfish to keep it to myself. When all is said and done, I want my friends and my family to be with me forever. And we are all children of God. That will be the best blessing of all.

How I live my faith

One of my first assignments after moving into our first home was to organize a luncheon for 100 senior citizen women. I had never done anything like that! A very talented gal that lived nearby, walked me through the entire process! What a huge blessing she was to me. That is when I realized that God blesses us through other people! I've tried to listen to that little voice in my mind that tells me when I can be of service to someone in need. We have adopted a saying at our house: "Opportunities rarely come at convenient times." That is so true! It's not easy for me to always respond and be of service, but it's very rewarding when I do!
