Hi I'm Jess

I'm from Brazil, raised in the USA, and living in London! I have a passion for interior design and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and my parents immigrated to The United States when I was 7 years old. I was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah until I decided to head off to Utah State University, in Logan, UT, for school. I had always had a great passion for design stemming from my greatest example, my dad. He was an architect, and I always looked up to him and his skills. I decided to take my career into the world of Interior Design, and while studying at Utah State University, I met my eternal companion. Mike and I were married in 2008 and have had a whirlwind of adventures ever since! We purchased a home, added a dog member to the family, graduated from Utah State, traveled around many countries, and established our lives and careers. Our life was pretty good, but we felt that we needed to further our knowledge and decided to move to London! We left our whole lives behind (even our little dog), and made the big move across the pond. As nervous as I was about the whole thing, we have truly been so blessed! We have felt our Heavenly Father's love along every step of the way, and we know we never would have been where we are without His help! I am doing my Masters in Interior Architecture, while working part time as a designer for a fabulous company, and Mike is doing his MBA. We LOVE London! We love the opportunity to meet new people from around the world in such a beautiful setting. We are taking this life we've been given one step at a time and enjoying every minute of it!

Why I am a Mormon

I find great happiness in my faith! I am so grateful for the knowledge I have that I have a Heavenly Father who knows me personally and loves me. I find comfort in knowing that I am not perfect and will make mistakes, but because I have a Savior, Jesus Christ, who suffered and died for my sins, I am able to repent and become whole again. I am truly grateful for the knowledge I have that if I live my life here on this earth in a way that is pleasing to my Heavenly Father, that I will live again with Him and with my family...for eternity! I couldn't think of a better gift, to know my marriage and family is not till death do us part, but for eternity! I know the Book of Mormon is true and have felt the spirit relay that message to me when I read from that great book. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of god, and that no man could have done what he did without divine intervention. I am grateful for the privilege we have to have a living prophet on the earth today, President Thomas S. Monson, who receives modern day guidance and revelation for us from our Heavenly Father. I am so blessed by the power of prayer in my life. I find great comfort in knowing that when feeling lost, confused, or afraid that I can kneel in prayer and know that my prayers will be heard and answered. I also love the feeling I get when I acknowledge where my blessings come from, and realize that my greatest accomplishments don't just come from me. I know my Heavenly Father lives, I know he knows me individually and knows the desires of my heart. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that he is my savior, and without him and his atoning sacrifice, I would not be able to return to my Heavenly home. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true and restored gospel on this earth, and I owe my whole life to that knowledge! I am a Mormon...I know it, I live it, I love it!

How I live my faith

Because I feel such great joy and gratitude from the knowledge I have of this amazing gospel, I feel truly inspired to give back. I love to serve within the church by accepting and fulfilling "callings." Callings give each member of the church a responsibility and a role. I love my responsibility of teaching the young minds of the church. I am in charge of teaching children of ages 4-7 the basics of the gospel in Primary. I have no children of my own yet, and so I adore the time with these little spirits. Most of the time I feel like they teach me more than I could teach them. They have such a great understanding of sharing, and having unconditional love to others, that I always look forward to Sunday where I can interact and learn from their examples. I also like to live my faith by being a good example. I am far from perfect, but I take pride in living the word of wisdom, which is basic guidelines to living a healthy lifestyle. I do not smoke, drink alcohol or coffee, and I try to live life with everything in moderation. People often question my choice to not consume alcohol or other lifestyle choices, but I take this as an opportunity to explain my beliefs and share with them how happy these choices have made me! I am so grateful for the opportunity to share my love for the gospel on a daily basis with people who have never even heard of the Mormons. I live my faith by loving others unconditionally, no matter their background, by being willing to serve and help where I am needed, and by not taking the blessings I receive for granted!
