Hi I'm Julia!

I'm a runner, traveller, and artist! I'm studying Mandarin, serving in the Taiwan, Taipei mission and I'm a Mormon!!

About Me

I love to run long distance, long-board, draw, play the piano, eat, be with my family, travel and learn about other people! I'm from Fruit Heights Utah, went to Davis High, then lived in China for a time and taught English! I am the 7th of 8 children and I adore my family! I attended BYU-Idaho and then Hawaii. I love serving others. I have always wanted to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and now have the opportunity to serve in the Taiwan, Taipei Mission! I absolutely love the language and the people!

Why I am a Mormon

Because of the MIRACLES in my life. I have seen huge life-saving miracles and tiny tender mercies and I know that God lives and loves me and that this is His restored gospel. For example, I read the Book of Mormon, studied Christ's teachings, and prayed. And I know it's true. I was hit by a car going 55 miles per hour, broke both my legs, ripped aorta, 1% chance of living, and yet running strong today. Seeing the gospel change people's perspective on life, God and themselves! I am able to change things about myself that didn't seem possible before and have become more like Christ. I love this gospel. I know that it is the only way to find true happiness and peace. I know God's plan for His children, I know what I need to do in this life, where I'll be going after this life, and that I am a daughter of God. I am so grateful for a perfect Heavenly Father who provided a way for me to return back to Him. I know that when I obey God's commandments, serve others, and live the Gospel I am happier!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving. I really think that it is putting the gospel into action. By loving and lifting others up we are also lifted up. It also shows your love to God, "By serving your fellow man, you are serving your God." This is why I'm so excited to serve a mission so I can spend 1 1/2 years in full-time service! I believe that doing the little things every day is living my faith. It helps me remember God and consistently trying to be better. By studying the scriptures, participating at church, and praying every day I learn so much and come closer to God!

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

I know that to increase faith in Christ you MUST have a desire to have faith in Him! You must believe in Him as the Son of God, the Savior of the World. And then be willing to act on that belief. Through prayer, study, and living the gospel (which includes keeping the commandments!!!) anyone can come to know Christ and increase faith in Him! Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is AWESOME!!!! You get to spend a happy life full of learning, progression, and helping others! I know that by learning the true doctrine of Christ I have been able to receive forgiveness of my sins and change my thoughts and actions to become better! This has brought me so much happiness! Plus I have the privilege of helping others onto this path of righteousness. I know my purpose in life and know that no matter what I can be happy. As in Doctrine and Covenants 59:23 "But learn that he who doeth the works of righteousness will receive his reward, even peace in this world and eternal life in the world to come." Those works of righteousness includes living the gospel of Christ and following His plan for us! Oh and you get to live the commandments!!! The commandments are given to everyone and I know that blessings come to anyone who live the commandments! Mosiah 2:41 "And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it." Who wouldn't want these blessings?! Keep the commandments! Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

To me, the biggest blessing from scripture study is peace and knowing God's will. Through studying, pondering, and praying I feel peace through hard times, find answers to questions, and understand who God is and His will for me. These blessings are especially wanted and needed as I am serving a mission for God right now. I know that every day when I study the scriptures I need to know how to help the people of Taiwan come closer to God and also receive the blessings I've experienced. Through the scriptures I have been able to become a better missionary and do God's will to bring others this joy! Show more Show less
