Hi I'm Karli

I am a student, a music enthusiast, and a history nut. And I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am going studying business management with an emphasis in organizational behavior and human resources. I am the second oldest of 4 sisters who double as my best friends. I love music and enjoy listening to any type of music from Celtic to opera to alternative to classic rock. I don't just enjoy listening to music though; I also like to sing and play the violin. I am definitely that person who can't listen to a song without singing along with the words or the guitar solo...sorry... I also enjoy reading, especially when I get to learn something new. History and business books are my favorite readings right now, and I think learning how people work is so interesting and incredible. I guess it's not surprising then that my my favorite pastime is getting to know and learn from other people. Each person has so much to offer, and I think it's one of the joys in life to find out what that is :)

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and so I was always raised in the church. For me personally, I have not had just one, big instance where I have had it witnessed to me through the Holy Ghost that this is the true church. Rather, I have been able to receive small, simple witnesses throughout my daily life that have given me a testimony of the truthfulness of this church. I know, through this divine witness, that Jesus Christ lives and that He loves me so much. I have felt His love so often I cannot deny it. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that through him, the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored. Like I said, I was raised Mormon, but I have stuck with it because of the guidance and direction it brings to my life. I've searched for that same guidance and joy in different places, but I could never find it. This is more than just a title or a religion, it is a way to peace, happiness, and joy in this life and in the next.

How I live my faith

Sometimes with the craziness of school and work, it's difficult to feel I am really focused on living my faith. But, I have found that as I pray, study the scriptures, and serve others everyday, I feel more grounded in my faith and stable in the world. I live my faith by trying to see others how the Lord sees them and love them as the Lord loves them. I live my faith by volunteering in my community, school, and church. I live my faith by learning from every good source available and by enjoying life wherever I am. Although life does get crazy sometimes, I try to stay grounded in my faith by making little efforts to live as I believe throughout each day.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Oh man, this is probably just my favorite topic to talk about ever. I love the Holy Ghost because His influence is something that most everyone has felt at one time or another. If you have felt comfort, joy, peace, warmth, goodness, or any other good feeling, that was the Holy Ghost. One of the roles of the Holy Ghost is to testify the truth of all things. He comes to those who, before baptism, are honestly seeking for the truth and those people can feel Him witnessing to them the truthfulness of all things. This witness comes through thoughts in our mind and feelings in our heart. It is a very personal feeling for each individual. One of the greatest blessings God has given us to have on this earth is the gift of the Holy Ghost. This gift comes to those who follow the example of Jesus Christ by being baptized by one holding the proper authority of Jesus Christ. After baptism, the person is then given the gift of the Holy Ghost by one holding the proper priesthood authority. It is a most precious gift and promise that as we keep God's commandments, we may always have those warm, happy feelings. He will always be there to guide us, warn us, comfort us, and teach us as we try to navigate our way through this life. God has given us the opportunity to have this powerful gift to make it possible for us to live with Him after this life. Show more Show less
