Hi I'm Elizabeth

I'm anxiously engaged in a good work. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Baguio, Philippines. Before this I was going to college majoring in International Studies. I have one adorable younger sister and two amazing parents who always encouraged me to be the best person I could be. My dream is to become a high school history teacher or a headmistress-matron of a school. I'm an INSANELY huge Harry Potter fan and really like country swing dancing and Shakespeare.

Why I am a Mormon

I am LDS for a very simple reason; I believe that God loves all of his children and has always loved them. It makes sense to me that God would share his gospel with his children in the Americas as well as in Jerusalem and Israel. The account of Christ's visit to the Americas in the Book of Mormon has greatly strengthened my faith in my Heavenly Father and Savior. It also also given me a increased knowledge and sense of his love for me and all of his children.

How I live my faith

I have decided to serve a mission for my church. This means that I'm giving a year and a half of my life to the Lord and serving his children. To serve the people of the Philippines I have left behind my parents, sister, friends, and my boyfriend. I will be doing nothing except service and sharing the gospel while I am on my mission. I have a best friend that I've known since kindergarten who also got called to the Philippines and is speaking the same language as me. The knowledge that mission calls are inspired by God in this specific of a way has greatly helped strengthen my faith in my church, my mission, and my savior. While I was in school I attended several institute classes (basically extra Sunday school during the week) and served as a Gospel Principles teacher on Sundays. Both of these meant that I was constantly associating with peers of my faith and talking about the gospel of Jesus Christ with them. I also had the opportunity to help introduce one of my friends to the church and was with him for many of his missionary discussions. He was baptized toward the end of the year.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

I am currently serving a mission. I am paying for a part of it using money I saved and my parents are paying for the rest. My parents have also helped several other missionaries pay for their missions. One of my roommates is currently serving a mission in Texas and her grandmother as well as someone in her home ward are helping to pay for her mission. Some of her mission funds are also coming from the church's missionary fund. This is a fund that members of the church voluntarily contribute to that is used only for continued missionary efforts around the world. Missionaries are, however, discouraged to use funds from this to pay for their mission and instead most of the funds go to printing copies of the Book of Mormon, missionary resources, and various other expenses. All missionaries are encouraged to pay for as much of their mission as they can. Show more Show less
