Hi I'm Spencer (Spec)

I grew up in Chino, CA, and I went to BYU for a year. I am currently on a mission to the Tokyo Japan Mission (July 17, 2013).

About Me

I enjoy playing video games with friends, and any other kind of game for that matter. I also love to play the piano and sing. I am going to BYU until the end of Winter 2013 semester, and I don't know what I want to major in. I was in Boy Scouts growing up, and I am an eagle scout. My Favorite TV Shows are Doctor Who, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Frasier. I also enjoy watching other anime, and I love to listen to music. There is a 90% chance that if you see me, I'm listening to music. I love a large variety of music genres. I listen to Rock, Alternative, Pop, K-Pop, Pop Latino, and different Japanese genres. I think the kind of music I listen to most is soundtrack music. I love the music from movies, TV shows, and video games. I am currently on a mission, serving the Lord in Tokyo Japan.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but as a kid my reasons for going to church were my family, the members, and primary. As I've grown, so has my testimony of His gospel. I have come to a knowledge of the truthfulness and power of the Book of Mormon. I know that God has not left us, but is very much involved in our lives. He has given us Prophets and Apostles who lead us, and tell us what the Lord would tell us. I know the importance of family. I love my family for the examples they are to me. Families can help strengthen and support each other. And when a family member passes on, it is not the end. We can be reunited with them. Families can be together forever. I know Jesus Christ died and was resurrected, and because of this we will all be resurrected as well. I know that because of Christ's atonement, we can repent of our sins, be baptized, and follow Him. Through following Christ we may obtain Eternal Life. We may live with our Heavenly Father again. I know that this church is the church of Jesus Christ not in name only, but it is truly His church. I hope that we may all follow Christ and return to live with him someday.

How I live my faith

I am really excited to serve the people of Japan. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone, so I am going to learn Japanese, so I can share the message of the gospel with the people of Japan. Serving a mission is possibly the best decision anyone can make aside from marriage. I definitely don't regret my decision to serve, and I know that no one ever regrets serving a mission. I feel a connection to the people of Japan from the entertainment that I enjoyed from them, but I strongly desire a greater and more meaningful connection through the church. I feel that the best way to help people is through spreading the gospel and allowing them to know what I know, and to feel what I feel. The Gospel of Jesus Christ makes me happy, and I want to share that happiness with everyone I meet.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Spencer (Spec)
The tithing that members pay is used to provide the church with the necessary funds it needs to operate. They are used to construct various buildings such as temples and chapels, and they are also used for materials used in Church classes and organizations. It can also go to a general missionary fund, education, temple work, family history, and other church functions. It is not used to pay the members who lead in wards or stakes (bishops, stake presidents, young men presidents, etc.). I was recently called as an assistant ward clerk, and I know that the tithing is carefully watched and it is used for the purpose of building up the Lord's kingdom. Show more Show less
