Hi I'm Onyinye

I'm a foodie, a budding scientist, and I'm a mormon

About Me

I enjoy cooking for others and myself. When I'm not doing so, I'm working on getting my PhD in food technology. I also studied Chemical Engineering so I love to think I can engineer food in a healthy way in the future. Latin dancing, hiking and writing poetry when the emotions and motivation overlap are some of the things you can catch me doing. I am the eldest of 3 kids and the only member of my family. Whilst it has been a hard journey, coming from a non-Christian family, it has been the greatest joy learning and growing in my trials. I look forward to when my family are open to the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I walked into the Hyde Park chapel one day curious about the name of the church. There I met an amazing family who introduced me to the missionaries who then taught me about the gospel and its truth. The family showed me an example of Christ's love and also how important Christ is being at the centre of the family. Also, I grow everyday and have grown since I became a member. My habits, behaviour are constantly evolving to try to be more Christ-like. I am always being stretched beyond what I think are my abilities and all these are possible because of the faith I have in Jesus Christ. My testimony of the truthfulness of the restored gospel strengthens with each week, month, and progressively year. I am a Mormon because I have chosen to be one, because I know the gospel is true.

How I live my faith

Simple things such as going out of my way to ensure another person's needs are met is how I live my faith. The choices I make too are centred round what I believe in. Making sure friends and family are doing okay, listening to a friend, bringing food to a colleague who's struggling are just the few things I enjoy doing. I love to think that Heavenly Father uses us to bless others and so every little effort counts. Nothing is too small, not even a smile.

Are Mormons Christians?

If we're still using the definition of Christians being followers of Christ, then Mormons are definitely Christians. We believe that Jesus Christ exists and He is our Saviour. The gospel is centred on him, so we of course are His disciples and followers. The book of Mormon also testifies of Christ. Everything we believe speaks of Christ, teaches of Christ and rejoices in Christ. Show more Show less
