Hi I'm Emily

I am the only member of the church in my family. I was baptized on December 23, 2012.

About Me

I write poetry in my spare time. I love music. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I'm just your average college student, I'm majoring in English and Psychology.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to get baptized because I felt like it was the right thing for me to do. I don't regret that choice. I was a non denominational christian all my life and my parents were strictly anti mormon. I had a few mormon friends in high school and i decided that I wanted to know more about the church. I started reading the book of mormon and I knew it was true, I felt it in my heart. It has been a really hard change for my family, I constantly have discussions with my parents about what I believe, and through time and prayer they're beginning to understand and be more lenient. The one thing I would want people to know about us (Mormons) we're not bad people, we love our families and friends, and we like to have fun. Healthy, clean fun, but fun all the same. Well anyway if you want to know more feel free to drop me a line.

How I live my faith

I'm a greeter at my church, and I do my best to live an honest life and be a positive influence to the people around me.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Strong, with an overwhelming faith. I have never met stronger women than the ones whom I've met in the church. The best part about it is that the men know it and we work together with them in harmony to get things done. Men and women have equal respect in the church, of that there is no doubt. However, we work to our strengths which is a positive thing. Men are better at some things than women, and women are better at some things than men. One side never looks down on the other and resents them, we all work in harmony to attain the same goal. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we do not worship the Prophet Joseph Smith. He is our prophet and a messenger of God, he is not divine himself. One of the things I like about him so much is that he was just a normal person like me who earnestly sought the truth and Heavenly Father spoke to him and revealed the truth to him. He wasn't any more holy than any other person. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Faith in Jesus Christ can strengthen our relationships by giving us an example of how to live trustworthy lives. By his example we see what we can do to have happy marriages and friendships. A shared faith in Christ also brings families closer together, because then your interests are the same and you are both working to be happy and trustworthy people. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Peaceful, there's an overwhelming sense of belonging, like you went on a long trip and you just got home and everyone's happy that you're finally home because they missed you. The people that you meet are wonderful, and your days are filled with joy. One of my favorite things is serving the people I've met since I converted, and serving my community with them. It's a really wonderful experience. I would suggest to anyone to spend time with a Mormon family for even an hour, and see the joy and the peace that they show, it's wonderful. Show more Show less
