Hi I'm Amy Rae

I struggle with depression. I love Japan and have self-taught myself Japanese. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second kid out of seven, and like a second mom to my younger siblings. I have a handicapped brother who is 21 years old, and the sweetest thing you'd ever meet (he's also pretty hilarious)! I love languages, and I hope to study linguistics when I got back to school (I'm going on a mission soon!). I love Japan, and have taught myself conversational Japanese through immersion in various Japanese media. I love to read and write and play video games, although I've slowed down on the last one lately. I was homeschooled up until 6th grade, which I loved! Unfortunately for me, public schools and I didn't get along well together, especially because my depression was really bad in my teenage years, and I really struggled through school. I struggled through a couple of years of college, too, before deciding to go on a mission. I hope to someday be able to get a good enough education that I can teach my own kids, instead of sending them to the public schools that I had such a problem with.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, both my parents being members, but I wasn't strong in my faith until recently. Growing up, I took it for granted, knowing that what my parents taught me was the truth. I didn't gain my own testimony until recently, when I really started living the gospel. The Lord has sent me so many witnesses of it's truth since I have started living the gospel, that now I not only know it is true, but I know with my very soul! It brings me so much happiness to know how much my Heavenly Father loves me, that He has provided the wonderful plan of salvation so that I can return to live with Him again. I am so thankful that I now have the opportunity to spend a year and a half sharing these wonderful truths with those children of Heavenly Father that don't have the truth yet!

How I live my faith

I'm preparing to go on a mission, preaching the gospel of Christ to California for a year and a half! In my current calling, I serve in the nursery, teaching and caring for the youngest ones during church. I also love attending the young single adult activities in my area! I love going to institute, a weekly religion class on Thursdays, and learning and sharing what I know about the scriptures. I do my best to live what I learn, and the Lord helps me with the rest.
