Hi I'm Melissa Monson

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student at Brigham Young University studying Human Development. I'm planning on working in hospitals with kids to help them cope with whatever trauma they've gone through. I'm the baby of 6 kids. My brothers all think I'm a princess (probably true). I was born in California and went to high school in Colorado. I played soccer in high school and still love playing when I get the chance! Music has also always been a big part of my life. It's the best kind of therapy! In May 2013, I left to serve a mission in Orlando, FL. It has been the most rewarding experience of my life and I've truly come to know my Savior because of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I had very few friends of my faith growing up. I was able to get a very real understanding of what life without the gospel looked like through observing loved ones that didn't have it in their lives. It was a life that had little meaning. After graduation, I went to college where almost all of the student body were members as well. It was a great experience for me to be surrounded by people that held my same beliefs. I learned to love the gospel on a much deeper level. I was taught the importance of prayer and answers to prayer. I learned that Heavenly Father is aware of us and He has a much better plan for us than we sometimes have for ourselves. I know we were sent here by our Him to learn, grow and progress. I know we have a Savior that died for us so this could all be made possible. I know if we completely devote our lives to this gospel that we cannot fail. I am a Mormon because I know this is the true and restored gospel on the Earth. It has brought me an incredible amount of joy that I know I would not be able to experience any other way and it's truth I cannot deny.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church weekly, reading my scriptures and praying daily, and continuing to strive to find ways to be more Christlike. I try live worthy of having His spirit to be with me through my actions and thoughts. I live my faith by living what I know and sharing my knowledge of the truthfulness of the gospel. While I prepared to serve a mission, I learned how only through complete immersion in the gospel and reliance on our Savior will we find true happiness. I have never felt the Spirit so strongly as I've learned to serve those around me with a pure, Christ-like love. I live this gospel by getting to know my Savior and doing what I can to be His disciple.
