Hi I'm Lindsay Paris

I grew up in Troutdale, Oregon, but I am currently studying at Brigham Young University-Idaho (BYUI). I'm a Mormon

About Me

One of my favorite things to do is to play sports. When I was growing up, I did soccer, track, gymnastics, ice skating, and swimming. Soccer and track were definitely my favorites. I participated in track for the first time when I was in middle school. My main events were the 100 meter and 200 meter dash. When I got into high school, I realized that I wasn't very fast, so I took up Pole Vault...best decision ever!! I absolutely loved pole vaulting. I was able to share my love of track and field with some kids in my community by volunteering as a coach for the Troutdale Track Club. I had so much fun teaching the kids about the fundamentals of track and field. I started soccer when I was about 7 years old, and played all the way up through high school. I even had the opportunity to play on an intramural team here at BYUI. While up here at school, I have played Intramural volleyball and flag football. I loved playing flag football. I had never played until the fall 2012 semester. I made so many new friends, and learned a new sport. Even though it was only intramural flag football, my team took it very seriously. We had coaches, practices, and hours were spent planning the perfect plays. Playing flag football was one of my favorite memories of college so far. Here at school I have also taken up Zumba. I love dancing for fun. When I get back from my mission, I plan on becoming a Zumba instructor.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon, but I don't think I really appreciated it until I was older. I am so grateful for my parents and grandparents for setting such good examples as members of the church, for me. I love going to church because I have learned so much, and continue to learn so much about my Savior, Jesus Christ, and his love for me. I am so glad that I have learned about my incredibly loving Heavenly Father, who provided His own son, as a savior for the world, so that we could have the opportunity to return to Him, and live with Him again! I am a Mormon because I have realized how blessed I have been. When I do good, I am blessed, often times even more than I deserve. When I don't do good, I have the opportunity to learn and repent for my mistakes. I know that God has a plan for me, as well as a plan for everyone else individually. He has provided me with many resources, such as church, scriptures, and church leaders, who can help me to do good, and to follow God's plan for me. I am a Mormon because this church is different than other churches. I believe that all churches are good, but The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints is different. One thing that makes it different is because we have the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon, as well as the Bible work together to teach us the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. These two books complement each other and help me to have clarity with their teachings. I am a Mormon, because the church is very organized. Every member is important, not just another number. Every person is very important to our Heavenly Father. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can be found world wide, and is the exact same everywhere. The teachings and interpretation of them are uniform throughout the church all around the world. I am a Mormon because I love it!

How I live my faith

Even though I am up at school right now, I still go to church every Sunday and try my hardest to live as a follower of Christ as I go about my week. I love going to college at BYUI because almost everyone is a member of the Church. This makes it easy to make good choices. I am glad that that I can be in an atmosphere where others believe the same things and have the same values as me. I help to plan and organize some of the activities for church. At the last activity, we played minute to win it games, and had a dessert potluck. I love having activities like this because it helps me get to know everyone that I go to church with. Being a member of the Mormon church is so much more than just going to church on Sundays. It is fun to see people outside of their "Sunday best" and in a more casual setting where we can laugh and enjoy each others company. As of right now, I am preparing to go on a mission. I have been called to serve in the Nevada, Las Vegas mission. I will be a missionary there for a year and a half. I am so excited to go teach people about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints!
