Hi I'm Rhees

I'm a student, I love sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of 4 very different, but awesome siblings. I am going to school at Utah State University and I love it. I like hiking as well as playing volleyball, basketball, and ultimate frisbee. I am not really passionate about any one thing, but I guess my passion would be enjoying a little bit of everything; whether it be traveling, any kind of sport, or just hanging out. I lived in Italy for two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ, and that was the most spectacular experience of my life. The people there are amazing, and the Italian language is beautiful; it is a huge blessing to have learned it. My parents are amazing as well, and I hope to be a lot like both of them as I continue to learn and grow. I want to receive a college degree in the field of business and one day have a family of my own!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for a lot of reasons! A few quick ones are: I love Mormons, in general they are hard-working, loving, honest people; tons of people are these things, regardless of religion, but I have seen these attributes in so many members of the church. The teachings of the church make sense to me, and I feel good when I am in church or just an activity. The church is an amazing community, you have a family wherever you go in the entire world. The real reason: In the scriptures God promises that if we ask a question, he will answer; the famous "ask and it will be given you." It seems too simple to be true, and I never really put it to the test till my late teens. I was raised in the church, but there came a point, just as I would imagine with most people, where I truly wondered what the truth was. I believed in God, and I had often felt his influence in my life; but I had never gotten a specific answer if the 'Mormon' church was the right one, or if God even had a church. I hadn't ever asked. I decided to do my part by reading and praying everyday. I know that it sounds simple, but that's how God works with his children - through small and simple things. There was a night when I was reading in the scriptures, when I came across a verse that struck me like nothing I had ever read. I was overwhelmed with Christ's immense love for me, and my whole body was filled with a peace and joy that I can promise was not anything of this world. It was surreal. The verse didn't have anything to do with 'which church was true,' but that verse was in the Book of Mormon. From reading and studying the Book of Mormon I know that it is scripture, and that God still reveals his words to living prophets. Since that first experience, my faith has only grown, along with my testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ, or the 'Mormon' church, is God's church on earth. I know it's true, and I know that anyone who wants to know if it is can receive an answer for themselves!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to follow Jesus Christ. He is the center of all the teachings in the church, and he helps me overcome my many shortcomings. I am far from perfect, but I try to live a christian life by seeking to serve, love, and uplift those around me. I do my best to obey the commandments and teachings from our Lord and Savior. In a world that is moving farther and farther away from these teachings, I try to avoid negative influences in the media that tear down the righteous principles that bring me happiness.
