Hi I'm Skyler Blumenthal

I'm from Henderson, still single (desperate... NOT) and I'm a mormon

About Me

I was born in Henderson, Nevada. I grew up living a pretty normal Mormon life. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother, and my family means everything to me. My favorite moments in my childhood were when we all went together as a family to Disneyland for vacation, or to the beaches in Newport in California. I am currently serving a mission in the England London South Mission. I love Magic: The Gathering, video games, anything to do with MARVEL comics, maths, computers, and all the rest of it. I'm a huge nerd.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy! I know where I came from, why I'm here, and where I'm going. I also know that Jesus Christ has changed millions upon millions of peoples' lives with his influence. I know that someone is up there and is aware of me. I know that the feelings I receive when I'm doing what's right (Gal 5:22-23) are not from me (Isaiah 55:8-9) Also, I'm a Mormon because this is Christ's only true and living church on the face of the earth. I'm a Mormon because its the best way I know to show my respect for Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Harold B. Lee said that the most important commandment to follow is the one you struggle with most. I live my faith (or strive to) by overcoming obstacles and problems in my character and personality that aren't in harmony with Christ's teachings. I live my faith every day of my life, not just on sunday.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Skyler Blumenthal
Because it boldly testifies of the mission and divine sonship of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Since Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our religions, the Holy Bible is the first place we'd look to to find out more about him and how to follow his example. We believe that the Bible was written by inspired prophets of God that testify of Him and His son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Skyler Blumenthal
We must all be baptized to enter the kingdom of God. (John 3:5) There have obviously been times in this world's existence where no proper priesthood authority was available to enter the covenant of baptism. (Amos 8:11-12) In His infinite mercy, through the restoration of the church, God has given us all the chance to accept baptism, whether in this life or not. (1 Corinthians 15:29) We still all have our moral agency to choose whether to accept or decline the offer of baptism, but everyone who has lived or who will live will get a fair chance of being partakers of the fruits of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. (Philip. 2:10, 1 Peter 4:6) Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Skyler Blumenthal
My sanity tells me that there is a God. I don't get how some people say "I respect your beliefs..." then continue to rant about how there isn't a God. If you respected my beliefs, you wouldn't insult the God that I worship. I know that He is out there. Some might not have that belief quite yet. I honestly hope that from reading and researching mormon.org, any and all can at least grow a strengthened faith in Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Skyler Blumenthal
We are all saved by Grace! The atonement of Jesus Christ made that possible (Alma 40:11) I think an important question to some is not whether they've been saved by grace, but whether or not they've been *changed* by grace. That's what should drive us to follow the commandments. If we do follow the commandments, we feel his blessings in our lives, and feel grateful for that sacrifice he's made. Show more Show less
