Hi I'm Michelle

I'm a wife. I'm a mom. I'm a CPA. I'm an Expat. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Accounting at Brigham Young University. I later earned my designation as a CPA. After spending several busy and rewarding years working for a large, global accounting firm, I made the decision to put my career on hold and instead focus on my family. I resigned from my job and became a stay-at-home mother to my then young son. We have since added two more children to our family and my days are busy with three little ones under the age of 5. Although I loved and excelled at my career, I am grateful for the opportunity I have to spend time with and influence my children in ways I wouldn't have otherwise. Three years ago, my husband was presented with a unique opportunity to apply for a job abroad and we felt like it was the right decision for our family. We have been living in the United Kingdom for 2 1/2 years now. This opportunity has enabled us to experience a new culture and way of life. As a result of our time abroad, I have developed a love of travelling and history. I am also a nature lover and enjoy spending time outdoors, especially hiking. I also enjoy reading, writing, and creating art.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Growing up, I attended church each week and learned about the Savior and the gospel of Jesus Christ. For a long time I relied on the testimony of others to get me through. But on its own, that is not enough. I have had to come to learn for myself that the gospel is true. As I continue to go through my life, my faith and testimony have been challenged, strengthened, and deepened. I know that God lives. I know it. I know that we are His children and that He is mindful of us. I know that His love for us is real. I have felt His love for me and I have felt His love for others. I have seen His hand in my life and the lives of others in so many ways. I am always in awe when I consider His involvement in even the seemingly small and inconsequential matters of life. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. I know that He is always there, waiting for us to come to Him. I know that His Atonement is real and available to all. I am grateful for the companionship of the Holy Ghost. I know that it is through the Spirit that truth is confirmed in our hearts and in our minds. I am grateful for prayer and for repentance. I know that the commandments are not given as punishment or to limit our "fun," but out of love. I know that true happiness comes from keeping the commandments and striving to become more Christlike each day. Sometimes this includes enduring trials and patiently waiting on the Lord and His timing. Life is not always easy - there are times of pain and sadness and disappointment, but through the gospel I have also felt comfort and direction, and gained a greater perspective. I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am grateful for the knowledge that I am not alone. I am grateful for my understanding of God's eternal plan for us. I am grateful for the knowledge that I am loved.

How I live my faith

Over the years I have served in numerous positions in various wards. Each calling has been unique and presented me with different opportunities to develop my own talents as I serve and learn to love others. I'm currently serving as a leader in the youth organization for the young women of our congregation. I help present Sunday lessons, help organize and run weekly youth activities, and work to develop friendships with the young women. I also serve as a visiting teacher, reaching out to specific women in their homes. Through visiting teaching, I have been able to develop relationships with women of various backgrounds and circumstances. I have had many opportunities to serve women that I would never have associated with otherwise. I have learned so much from these wonderful associations.
