Hi I'm Brighton

I'm a college student and big sister of 5 in Utah. I'm about to serve a full time mission in Australia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I received my call in late February of 2013 while I was attending school at a college in Eastern Utah. I have been called to serve in the Australia Sydney South mission speaking the Cantonese language. It's definitely a challenge to try to live up to my call; with only 9 weeks of language study it's easy to feel overwhelmed. I've never left the western United States, so living on the other side of the globe will be a great adventure for me. My greatest support is my family, which consists of a loving Mother, a wonderful Father, and 5 younger siblings that mean the world to me. Before I was a missionary I enjoyed studying history, working as an ambassador at my college, and ballet. As I embark on this great adventure I can't help but wonder what I'll learn and how my interests will change. Although I am uncertain about the details of my next 18 months, I am positive I will learn so much and come closer to Christ, which is the ultimate goal in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to be. I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but my parents have always been very careful to make sure that I was not involved in church activities by force or anything even close. As grew up and moved out on my own for the first time I had to make a decision, would I continue in the ways of the church, or go my own way? I decided to pray about it and do whatever I felt was best, no matter how that effected other people. As I invested time and effort into truly investigating my existing testimony, it did nothing but grow. And not only grow, but develop at a rate that I've never experienced before. I know through the power of the Holy Spirit that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints brings happiness when you live by its precepts. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me infinitely. I know that He wants more than anything for me to live with Him again. I know that God the Father and His son Jesus Christ appeared to the prophet Joseph Smith and gave him the revelation needed to restore the fullness of the gospel to the earth in these, the latter days. I am grateful that we continue to have prophets that act as the mouthpiece of God to us, his children here on earth. I know that everything about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. It is the church of God that provides everything we need to achieve eternal life and happiness.

How I live my faith

At the moment, I am living my faith by dedicating 100% of my time to the work that I've been called to do. As a missionary, I am striving to do more than just "preach" the gospel. I'm trying to become a living example, rather than just a teacher. I have found that showing genuine love for others and putting forth my best effort to live as Christ lived is the best way to show my faith in Him.
