Hi I'm Joel Swallow

I grew up on a farm in Utah. I've been a Mormon my entire life. I love to play basketball. Right now I'm on a mission in England.

About Me

I'm really tall I am 6'8". I've played basketball since I was a little kid. I hope to be able to play it after I come home off my mission. I really enjoy working with my dad on the farm.I have one older brother that just got off his mission and 1 more little brother then 2 little sisters. I would like to be a chiropractor and maybe so something with nutrition. I am interested in going into that field of work. I love to play basketball. I hope to be able to get a scholarship when i return home from my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church but when I was about 13 i decided that this church wasn't for me and i started to rebel against my parents and stopped studying my scriptures and i stopped praying. This went of for quite a few months. Then something happened i started reading the Book of Mormon again and decided i needed to know for my self if it was true or not. After i started reading the Book of Mormon. Then one night after reading i knew i needed to pray to know it it is true. I prayed and i got my answer that it is true. Ever since that moment kneeing down in my bedroom, I have had a burning testimony deep in my heart of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through the Book of Mormon i have come know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and most importantly i know that the Lord Jesus Christ is my Savior. I am so very grateful for this church and what it has molded me into.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve in England for 2 years. England Manchester mission. When i got here my mission president asked me to learn Farsi. To be a able to help the people from Iran find Jesus Christ. Before i went on my mission i went home teaching to 3 families different homes. One of them had just moved back to my town and we helped her do small jobs around her house. Its always fun to do service for others. I read the scriptures everyday. It has been a great blessing. it really makes a difference in my life. Life is hard. The word of God comes alive in my heart and I love the light and Strength it gives me.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Joel Swallow
Have you ever seen a really good movie and you just wanted all your friends to watch it so what do you do? You tell them about it! It’s basically the same thing as that but on much larger scale Mormon missionaries go out in the world and proclaim the gospel full time! They give up the things of the world for 18 months to 2 years to go and serve God, because they love god and love His church so much they wish to share it with everyone that will listen. Missionaries don't go and share the gospel because they have to it’s because they have a deep desire and love for Jesus Christ. Jesus paid the price of his life to save us. We as Christians should be willing to serve for however long God asks us to! Show more Show less
