Hi I'm Rachel

I'm almost a college graduate. I love to laugh. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Colorado and loved it. I am currently in Utah finishing up a bachelor's degree in Recreation Management and am interning in the recreation field. I'm just your average college girl: dealing with things like being poor, living with roommates, dating, and figuring out what I want to do with my life. I love to spend time with my friends and family, take naps, go to the gym, and laugh. I really love to laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of this Church because it makes me happy. It helps me understand that God and Jesus Christ are real individuals who love and care about me and want me to be happy. It provides me with a deeper knowledge of which things in this world will lead me to that happiness, and which will make life more difficult. This gospel and the people in it help me to choose those things that make me happy. Because of this church I have an automatic support system. In addition to my physical family, I have my church family who love me and take care of me. I'm so grateful for that. This church has saved me from much of the heartache that fills the world and helped me better deal with the heartaches I've been unable to avoid. Knowledge of the Lord's gospel helps me face the future with more hope than fear. It gives meaning to this crazy experience called life on Earth. It makes it all matter.

How I live my faith

I love going church each Sunday. It is such a beautiful way to recharge for the rest of the week; but there are so many other opportunities to be an active member of this church. As a young single adult, I am a member of a congregation who all share that status. We often gather on Monday evenings to enjoy each other's company, share a spiritual thought or lesson, and participate in an activity together. On Wednesday's I love to go to Institute, an informal classroom setting to learn more about Jesus Christ. I also enjoy gaining and maintaining friendships by visiting assigned individuals each month and sharing a message with them, catching up, and helping them in any way that I can. I'm so grateful for all the opportunities I have as a member of this church to worship and learn more about my Savior, Jesus Christ and to associate with others who are seeking similar opportunities.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Rachel
Mormon women are strong, loving, hardworking, happy, and respected. Mormons believe that men and women are equally important, but different. We believe that gender is an essential characteristic in our individuality, but one is not greater or more important than the other. Being a woman within this church is a special opportunity. While we do not necessarily have the same responsibilities as men, we are vital. The men, who are in accordance with gospel principles, know that. We are loved, honored, and respected. We, as women, are encouraged to be educated and involved in our communities. Mormon women often work. As a woman, however, we feel that our greatest opportunity, blessing, and ultimate responsibility is in regards to a family. Show more Show less
