Hi I'm Kelsey

I love literature and teaching. I'm at home on a snowboard. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a young adult who loves living life to the fullest! I love to ride any kind of board; wakeboard, snowboard, longboard, you name it. I adore literature and am an aspiring writer. I'm a senior in college and am perusing an English Education undergrad degree. After that I hope to go to grad school and get my teaching license and Masters in Education. My dream career would be teaching English abroad. My favorite authors include George Orwell, Charles Dickens, and Cormac McCarthy. I write poetry and short stories. I aspire to write a novel one day. I also love music and movies. There's nothing quite like the energy of a live concert. Any movie that can make me laugh is a good movie. Luckily, I love to laugh so there's a large abundance of them! I'm the oldest of 5 children and love taking on the role of "big sis". There's nothing that can make a person feel whole quite like a hug from a sibling.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know this gospel can bring me complete happiness and joy. Life can supply many levels of happiness. But this gospel and Christ can bring the fullest and most complete form of joy. The happiest and the most at peace I've ever felt is when I am serving God and trying to live the best life he wants for me. I've had experiences when I'm in a church or the Temple and just can't seem to stop smiling. It's in moments like that that I KNOW this gospel will bring me complete happiness. To extents that I haven't even experienced yet. But I know that if I continue to stay faithful and love God he won't hold back the gifts of Heaven. And that is what will bring and does bring my heart and soul the strongest level of Joy.

How I live my faith

I've had the opportunity to reach out and meet many people young and old through my service in the church. As a teenager I was able to be on a committee with other teens and helped plan activities such as dances and camps during the summer. I learned great organizational skills and teamwork as I worked with other youth my age. Then as I became an adult I had the opportunity to serve in what would become one of my favorite experiences. I had a retirement home nearby my apartment complex. Some other young adults and I would go visit the elderly there twice a month for an hour. We would just chat with them. One of my favorite ladies I met there was an Orthodox Christian from Florida. She always had the best stories and sense of humor! We would also plan tri-monthly activities with them. An annual favorite was the Valentines dance. My most recent service opportunity in the church has been teaching the young children. I teach a class of 7 year olds every Sunday. We discuss the basics of the gospel. They are ADORABLE and I love them with all my heart. One of them is blind and so I have to guide her often. One week while she was holding my hand she said to me "What do you think Jesus is doing right now?" My heart was warmed as we discussed the love he has for her and the other children. And how much he loves her always, even right then and there.
