Hi I'm Brenda

I grew up in Northern Minnesota. I love the outdoors and trying to capture what I see with my camera. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spent my early years growing up in the region of the US that the early Latter Day Saints traveled through on their way out West. I didn't know about the Church then but my parents had some pamphlets that were given to them. I wondered a lot as a kid what my purpose on Earth was and if there was a God. I had a strong feeling all along that He was more than just the wind or love flowing through everyone but that He was my Creator and that I mattered to Him. I knew I had a purpose. When we moved to Northern Minnesota my family met members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They invited us to family activities and youth groups. We met with missionaries and when I was first given the Book of Mormon I knew I wanted to read it and know if it was true scripture. I took it in our front yard under a tall pine tree and felt so grateful to be able to find answers to my purpose and God's love for me and found that He is an actual Being! I was 14 years old. I fell in love with the goal-driven and fun youth program and made goals to make my life count and follow God's plan for me. A few years later my family made a trip out west to Utah to be sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I read the Book of Mormon and felt of its truth. I had been to Bible camps and knew that the Bible was the word of God but was searching for additional answers. The Book of Mormon is another testament that the Savior lives. The prophets who wrote teach the same values and true messages of Gospel living that Jesus Christ did when He was on the Earth and that the prophets wrote of in the Old Testament as well. I am so grateful to be a Latter Day Saint and so glad that I was able to find and recognize the fullness of the Gospel truths. I see the hand of God in my life from the earliest days of my childhood to all the small miracles and mercies that occur in my life now.

How I live my faith

Now I help teach the youth in our congregation and help them to get involved and make similar goals that I did. I teach my own children (we have three) the basic messages of the Gospel as the Savior taught in the New Testament, to love each other and strive for values of honesty, integrity, virtue, and doing for one another. This has not been an easy task and we stumble a lot. But we keep trying to do better each day. I tell my children that we spend so much of our early years trying to grow up and then we need to spend our later years trying to be humble and teachable again as a little child! Gratefully we have loving family members that continue to love and help us see what we can become.
