Hi I'm Claudia

I'm a wife, a mother, a grandmother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a degree in food and nutrition, but raising eight children took my primary time. I love walking with my husband, reading, gardening, sewing, music, having friends over for dinner, and serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

I love to get up in the morning and pray and read the scriptures. I seek answers to my questions in the scriptures and find truths that are important to me. I look for everything I can find out about God and His Son and the Holy Ghost. I find strength every day in the scriptures. I know God answers prayers. God loves each of us. His plan of happiness is the only way to achieve true happiness. I know Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We can be saved only through Him. I know that God and His Son have restored the true gospel to the earth through Joseph Smith and that they gave him power to translate the Book of Mormon. It is a true book. I know that families can be together forever through priesthood ordinances. I know that revelation continues today through God's prophet and apostles and to individuals who seek God in prayer. He does answer.

How I live my faith

I am an organist in the Church. I especially love playing the sacrament hymns about the Savior on the organ. I am delighted when I have the chance to play the piano at a baptism. It is a special blessing to be a church musician. The Church gives me a sense of purposefulness and direction in my life and for our family. I love attending the temple. I feel very close to Jesus Christ when I am there. It brings peace to my life. My husband and I have worked in the St. Louis Temple. I feel the Spirit there and see the joy on the faces of those who come.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Faith in Jesus Christ is increased by taking action in one's belief in Christ. Some examples are reading about the Savior and then practicing his teachings (John 7:17) It is increased by listening to others talk about the Savior. (Romans 10:17) It is obtained by repenting and praying (Book of Mormon- Helaman Chapter 5)The quickest way to increase faith is to pray with real intent. Each day we can grow our faith in Jesus Christ until it fills our whole soul. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

God has given man authority to baptize in His name. If a man has not received his authority to baptize from God, then it is not a valid baptism in God's eyes. It is God we are trying to please, so one needs to determine if the baptism they receive is of God and performed by one having God's authority. In 1829, Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery were visited by the resurrected John the Baptist and had hands laid upon their heads and were given the Aaronic Priesthood, the authority from God to perform baptisms. Later, the apostles Peter, James and John gave Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery the holy Melchizedek Priesthood, with authority to give the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. We should seek to be baptized by one who holds the authority of God. This priesthood is had today in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Show more Show less
