Hi I'm Jacob

I grew up in Wisconsin, I play the guitar, I speak Portuguese, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in California but moved to Wisconsin when i was very young. I've spent most of my time on a little farm house on the outskirts of a pretty small town. I grew up with my nine other sibling and am very thankful for all the my mom and dad have done for all of us. We were all home schooled up until high school where we were allowed to choose whether we wanted to go to public school or continue on with home schooling. I personally chose to go to public school and i'm very happy with my decision. I was given the opportunity to get very involved in music and performing. I am so thankful for the great opportunities to show my talents and i owe a lot to my family, my friends, and my teachers who have all helped me to much. I am now 19 years old and am to serving in a mission in Santa Maria, Brazil. I am so excited to be doing the Lord's work!

Why I am a Mormon

A lot of the time people assume that the reason i'm Mormon is just because that's how i was raised. However that it not the case. I am Mormon because i love church and everything about it. I have never in my life ever felt more at home than when i am at church or with other LDS members. Earlier this year i spend a few months out in Utah where the population of Mormons is very high compared to the little town i was used to. Even though i didn't know anyone personally at all, i still felt as if i were home. As if everyone there cared about me and i could feel it. Being Mormon is so great. Being a part of this huge family that makes you feel loved and wanted no matter where you are is so great. I wish that every person could feel how i feel every day of their lives. I know that the only way for people to do that is to come unto Christ and learn about his restored gospel.

How I live my faith

I show that I live my faith by how I talk, how I act, what music I listen to, what I watch and just about everything else that I do. Currently I am serving a mission in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Santa Maria, Brazil. (I am in Philly until my visa arrives for me to go to Brazil.) There is no greater way that I could "live my faith" than by serving a full-time mission. I spend every hour of every day devoted to learning, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love the opportunities that I have had to live my faith. Without it, I would not be the person I am today.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Jacob
Nope! It is not required, but it is definitely recommended! I know people that chose not to serve a mission, but we don't look down on them, or view them any differently than anyone else that has served missions. Even though most young men do serve missions, it is their personal choice whether they want to go. I am one of those people that chose to serve and I am so happy with my decision. To be able to devote every hour of every day for two years to helping people is amazing. I would encourage all that are considering the option to take this opportunity to help others by teaching them about the gospel. Show more Show less
