Hi I'm Avi

I joined the Church at age 15. I married the man of my dreams at age 20. I love life and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Texas and lived in China for three years. I joined the Church when I was 15 and am the only member in my family. I attended the University of Alabama for a few years when I met my sweetheart, Brandon. Since then He and I have been married in the Salt Lake Temple. Right now I am practicing being a fabulous housewife before we start our very own little family.

Why I am a Mormon

I first heard about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was in middle school from a friend. At the time I didn’t really have any opinions of the church other than my friend being a member. Throughout the rest of middle school we became really close friends but still never talked about religion. I remember one day in Biology class my freshmen year of high school; he and I started talking about different beliefs and he first told me about his church. At the time I was having a lot of home and family problems and I think he saw that I was missing something in my life. He then started inviting me to youth activities and we continued our discussions at school throughout our freshmen year. Then one day there was a knock on my door and to my surprise it was the missionaries. I remember thinking “ Really? What in the world was he thinking!” But I cautiously let them in and listened while they taught me the first lesson. At the end of the lesson one Elder asked me if I would be willing attend church that next Sunday and I said I would. The next Sunday came and I went to church with my friend and his parents. When I first walked into Sacrament a feeling of overwhelming comfort came over me. As I looked around the room I saw fathers and mothers sitting with their children, which was foreign to me, growing up in a broken family. I knew then that more than anything I wanted a family like the ones I saw there. For so long I had felt out of place in my own family and that day I finally felt at home. From that first time going to that church I knew that the church was true and that I wanted to be a part of it.

How I live my faith

I try my best the be like Christ and to follow His teachings. I make a lot of mistakes and have more than alot to learn but I have never felt such great happiness like the happiness I feel when I'm doing what I know Heavenly Father would want me to. I have recently been called to be in the Young Women's presidency of girls ages 12 to 17. I cannot even begin to express the love I have for each of these girls and have had such a wonderful experience getting to know them. It makes me appreciate my youth leaders even more and know all the sacrifices they went through. I live my faith by being a role model for these girls and by teaching and sharing my testimony of Christ and all that he has done for us.
