Hi I'm Joyce

I'm a mother of six, grandmother of eighteen, and a professional educator. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

As a wife, mother, and grandmother, I cherish the time I spend with my family. My greatest joy as well as my greatest heartache have come from my family. We are far from perfect but we are definitely loving, loyal and committed to one another. As an educator, I am passionate about preparing the next generation of teachers to be well-prepared to competently and confidently meet the needs of ALL students. Teaching in public schools and at the university level has been a rewarding endeavor. My family has been a great support to me as I have engaged in this work. When I become bogged down with 'life', digging in the soil and weeding in the yard allow me the opportunity to refocus on what's really important! There's something about removing unnecessary weeds from a garden that lifts my spirits and helps me to remove unnecessary 'weeds' that can weigh me down! I love to bake and chocolate is my flavor of choice...brownies, fudge, chocolate chip cookies! You will typically find me in the middle of at least one (and often two or three) good books. Reading has always been a favorite pastime and I thank my parents for instilling that at an early age. I love life and am grateful for opportunities to learn and grow!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon not merely because I was born into the faith....I am a Mormon because it is through the gospel of Jesus Christ that all good things have come into my life! Having a Heavenly Father who knows me, loves me, and cares for me has been a source of comfort, strength and hope throughout my life. I have felt the peace that comes through applying the Savior's atonement when repenting of my wrongdoings. I have felt the promptings of the Holy Ghost as I have made important decisions throughout my life and know that I have been guided in the choices and decisions I make. These experiences serve to strengthen my faith and increase my commitment to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because the gospel makes me happy! Having a living prophet

How I live my faith

My faith is very much a part of who I am....I don't believe that the two can be separated. I try to learn from my experiences....I consistently make mistakes but try not to make the same one twice! I strongly believe that it is never appropriate to be disrespectful to another person, regardless of the circumstance. I try to be respectful and kind to all I come In contact with...to recognize each as a son or daughter of God. I know that this journey of life is an opportunity to grow and become the best that we can become...I hope to be a better person today than I was yesterday. It is through the love of my Savior and His sacrifice for all mankind that I am able to make changes in my life. In spite of my imperfections I daily feel the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
