Hi I'm Shelby Toone

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah and grew up in the LDS faith. I am the big sister of three little brothers and I love every minute of it. I enjoy hiking, running, being out of doors, and spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy making and eating good food. I have completed about a year and a half of college and am now taking a break to serve the Lord by being a full-time missionary for the next 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I've grown up in the LDS faith, I've had to learn and grow just like everyone else: one step at a time. I've have to come to know the truthfulness of the principles of the gospel through study, faith, and courage to live what I believe. Sometimes it is challenging to stay true to my standards, especially in today's world, when we are surrounded by diverse evils and temptations. But I know that when we are true to the gospel and to our Savior Jesus Christ, that is when we will find true peace and joy in a troubled world.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. Life can be a roller coaster with its unexpected twists and turns, ups and downs, and all-arounds, but no matter what life brings next I know that I am a child of a Heavenly Father, that He loves me, and that everything will work out for my benefit. Some days it seems hard to be a Mormon, especially in today's world when what was once unacceptable is now not only popular, but considered normal. It's these days when I have to pray for the courage to stand up and be different; to live a virtuous life, and encourage others to do the same; to remember that this life is not the end; that even though I feel alone and scared at times, my Savior is always there for me, and it's His opinion of me that matters not anyone else's.
