Hi I'm Ravenwing

I grew up in the state of New Mexico, The Land of Enchantment. I love music and meeting new people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I absolutely love listening to music. I grew up always having music playing, even while we cleaned, were driving in the car, and other appropriate places. I also love to be immersed in my culture. I am a Native American pow-wow dancer. My parents and grandma would take me to Pow-Wows so I could dance and learn new moves from my peers. I love everything about my culture, especially the beautiful jewelry. I graduated from High School in 2011 and had the opportunity to move to Utah to attend college. I attended Utah Valley University for almost 4 semesters. College life is such an amazing experience! I was able to meet new people and make lots of friends with amazing people. My life has changed so much since I have experienced the good and bad things in life. Some new and exciting things came up that made me decide to move home and start a new journey in life. Now, I am living with my parents again but I am making big plans and preparing to take another big step in life. That step is to serve a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I will be serving for 18 months in Montana and this all starts March 20, 2013.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have had the chance to seek out and gain a testimony of my own. I was baptized and confirmed a member of the church when I was 8 years old. The moment I came up out of the water and felt that cleanliness and peace, I have strived to find and feel that ever since. I feel it as I continue to learn more from the lessons that are taught to me on Sunday at church, at Family Home Evening, and from the testimonies I hear from others. There are times that I have trials come into my life and I want to give up but I always find my strength again from the testimony I have of the scriptures and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I love my Savior and everything he has done for me. It is always nice to know and be reminded time and time again that the good and bad moments I go through in this life have been experienced by my Savior in the Garden of Gethsemane. By knowing that, I know without a doubt that I am never alone. The human I am may think that I'm alone at times but there is always that reassurance that finds me and I am lifted up again. I feel true happiness in my life as I continue to learn more about this amazing Gospel. I am thankful to have it in my life. Without it, I don't know who I would have become but I love who I am now and I wouldn't change that. I am definitely not perfect and no one is but I know as I continue to strive to be more like my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that I will continue to be happy and that the trials that come about will strengthen me.

How I live my faith

There are so many things that I try to do to live my faith. I have always found that service is the best way to get to know others. I make sure that I attend church activities that are planned. This is important to me because my branch is so close and the more we stay close the easier it is for us to know what we need from each other. Everyone needs help with something in their lives, especially me. So as I serve the people in my branch and community, it helps me to feel closer to the Lord and I also have that opportunity to show my love for the people. Another thing I do to live my faith is to study the scriptures. The scriptures and my loving Heavenly Father have both been wonderful guides in my life. I turn to them often, especially in preparation for my upcoming mission. I have found things in the Book of Mormon, that have helped me to understand my ancestors and family members that are of Native American decent, because the Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ and when he came and visited the Americas. I love this church so much because it has helped me progress forward and strive to be a better person.
