Hi I'm Brooke

I'm a college student. I look for knowledge, truth, witty people, music and art wherever I can. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Southern California where I spent most of my childhood narrowly avoiding death on the trampoline, reading upside-down, and eating way too much at the Taco Bell down the street. I've always always loved to sing and in high school, I started to gear what little ability I had to confidently stand in front of large crowds (I'll tell you it wasn't much) towards musical theater productions, choir, and dance. At the end of my Junior year I used my love of music together with friends to organize a community benefit concert for a girl at our school suffering from a brain tumor, at which generous friends in the community donated thousands of dollars and we all got to see what music coupled with Christ-like love can do. I'm now in college studying Elementary Education, spending way too much time on instagram, way too little on homework, and not possibly enough on preparing for the mission I am about to serve in Calgary, Canada. I love trying to create balance, I am logical rather than emotional, I am in love with rain, I analyze just about everything that makes me me and makes you you, and I enjoy truly quality music although I recently gave up a portion of my pride for country music.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? That seems like a silly yet a beautiful question to me. Because there is nothing else that could bring so much happiness, that can fill so many gaps, or that can cause me to love people around me even when it is illogical to do so. There is no greater place to find truth than in the pages of the Book of Mormon or than the answer to a sincere prayer to a God that you KNOW is there and that you know loves you with an incomprehensible and an unconditional love. There is nothing that can bring you closer to the pure love of the Savior Jesus Christ than to learn about and apply the atonement and to change. To know that there is someone on the other end accepting your promise to change and to improve no matter how many times you struggle to make that promise. I know that after every step we take, Christ is there to carry us to the next one. I know that there is a current prophet on the Earth, Thomas Monson, that speaks directly to God and receives revelation for us in our day. I know that Jesus Christ lives, has suffered our every pain and loves every one of us. I know that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God and that Heavenly Father has a plan and has had a plan from the very beginning. I know that my family can be together for all of eternity and I intend to bring that truth to anyone who will listen. I love what the gospel has done for me and what it can do for anyone who chooses to ask.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day in the way I strive to serve and love the people around me. I attend church with other LDS college students around me where I am a leader over teaching and music in a society of women my age. I try hard to read the Book of Mormon every night because it is a source of truth and light that I can not live without. I continually have to strive to be in constant contact with my Heavenly Father in order to recognize his hand in my life and let him guide me each day.
