Hi I'm James

I was raised in Leicester in a family of 7 kids. I study Bio-engineering in London. I speak Greek. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I really enjoy reading fantasy books and swimming in my 'spare time' but i don't get much of that, I am usually busy studying for my degree in Bio-medical engineering, which I am loving, or involved in church activities, which i also love. I never really thought about Bio-engineering as a career path but since there wasn't enough space in the course for which i applied, this course was offered to me instead as more suited to me, and i agree with them, I am learning new things almost everyday that make me realise how the world around us is truly amazing, and also how I can help my fellow man to have a better experience in it. I've always been very involved with church from a very early age, and moving to London away from my family didn't change that, I would say that I am inside the church for some social/spiritual activity almost everyday, it also helps that it is less than 2 minutes walk from my university. I grew up in a big family which was super fun, never a dull or quiet moment in a house full of 7 kids. I am 2nd of 4 boys and then the 3 girls follow, so it must have been tiring for my parents having to deal with all of us at once. I used to be in a band with some mates before Uni, playing and listening to music has always been a favourite past time for me, my parents always encouraged me to play music and so i learned how to play the piano and a bit of guitar and drums as well. but Piano is best.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason that I not only profess to be a Mormon, but that i follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is because I truly believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that His Gospel is the only path that can truly bring us back to God's presence after this life, and also that His gospel, while lost from the Earth a short time after the death of Christ and His apostles, has been restored to the Earth by Christ though his prophet Joseph Smith and is found, in fullness, only in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know this because I ask God through pray on a regular basis whether or not this is right, and He answers me in a huge variety of ways but always consistently that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in these days through Joseph Smith and that the true Gospel continues to be taught, in its fullness, only in this church. Many Christian religions profess Jesus as the Christ, so what makes this church any different? I read and study the Bible and believe it to contain the word of God because I feel His Holy Spirit touch my heart when I study it and follow its teachings. It teaches us that Jesus is the Son of God and the Saviour of Mankind, it teaches us, also, the path that Jesus Christ laid down for us to follow in order to return to God. But I get that same feeling and even in more abundance when I study the Book of Mormon and strive to follow the things that I learn. But not only that, with modern day revelation we don't have to just rely on the words of ancient prophets to help us to follow Christ, but with living representatives of God on the Earth we can and do receive Christ's teachings as applicable to this modern era, and when I follow these teachings found in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I feel Gods spirit confirming that my actions are in accordance with His desires.

How I live my faith

When I was 19 i went to live in Greece and Cyprus for 2 years as a full time missionary to share my faith and to teach the gospel to the people there. It was such a great experience and I learned a lot about myself and how living the teachings of Jesus Christ can really change my life and the lives of the people I taught. But since I got back at the end of summer 2012 I haven't been able to be full time in that, I have other commitments and real life kind of happens to you very fast. But I always try to let people know what I believe if they are interested. I truly believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can change anyone's life if they just try to follow it in faith and hope, and so that is the attitude that I have when people ask me about my faith. I don't mind some people thinking I'm a crazy devout christian in a scientific community, because then at least my peers know that I am christian and, if they want, that they can always talk to me about faith and stuff and then I can tell them about the gospel I know, and invite them to learn more, so that they can have the amazing happiness and joy that I get from following my Saviour. On a day to day basis I study the scriptures personally and twice during the week I go to study classes at church and so that helps me to have good social fun with like minded individuals in the area, but also to learn about how i can live the gospel in this difficult modern society. Other than study classes (institute) during the week there are also other activities that are really fun, usually accompanied with food and friends, so I go to as many as I can, this helps me to remain spiritually strong during the week when i can't be at a church service everyday.

Are Mormons Christians?

James
I sometimes get a little bit sad when someone asks me if I am christian if I am a Mormon. I believe that Jesus Christ is the very son of God who lived on the earth, taught His Gospel, established His Church with the 12 apostles, suffered and died for the sins of Mankind and then was resurrected. I believe that through listening to Christs teachings and following His gospel anyone can receive a remission of Sins through the atonement and then make it back to live with God again. I believe that this faith in Christ Show more Show less
