Hi I'm William

I am a missionary serving in the Missouri Independence Mission. I love food, theatre, ultimate frisbee, FOOD, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in lovely Placerville, California and lived in the same house for my first 19 years! I spent my time with friends and family playing tennis, ultimate frisbee, video games, performing in plays such as Romeo and Juliet and Comedy of Errors, and doing my best to enjoy what God gave me. I then left and have been living in Kansas and Missouri for the last 20 months serving as a missionary. I love going out and telling people about what I believe and what has truly blessed my life. I love being able to work with wonderful people and see what Christ has done have such an impact on their lives. Most of all I love my Savior and being in his service. After my mission there are lots of things I could do. I look forward to going to college, probably at Southern Virginia University, finding my career, having and loving a wife and kids, and continuing to share my love of God with anyone that will listen.

Why I am a Mormon

I initially became a member of this church simply because I was born into it. Both my parents are members and have been strong examples of what true Latter Day Saints should be. As I study and learn more about my faith, however, I have discovered that this church is the true church, and the most correct of any religion on the earth. I have learned much about faith, hope, charity, and love and have truly felt the influence of Christ and the atonement in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by loving my faith, and I love my faith through teaching it to those who I know it will bless (which is everyone). I am a full time missionary and though I don't get paid for my services I am showered in the blessings from the windows of Heaven. I spend time studying the scriptures, praying, attending church and other church related meetings, I talk with whoever will listen, I knock on doors (I may have knocked on yours!), and I try to help everyone to smile. I am very very very far from perfect, but I am trying to be like Jesus Christ, who I know is the perfect example.

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

In Moses 1:39 it says, "For behold, this is my work and my glory - to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." This passage of scripture can be initially confusing. Aren't immortality and eternal life the same thing? Well no, not exactly. Immortality is to be immortal, not a hard one. But eternal life is more than this. In St. John 17:3 it says, "For this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God..." So eternal life is to know God. Many churches preach that all you must do is believe in Christ and you are saved, and they are right. When Christ performed the Atonement he broke the bands of death and all will be saved to immortality. But to know God, to have eternal life, you must not only have faith, you must work with that faith. Show more Show less
