Hi I'm Jazmyne Davis

I'm 23 years old, originally from Portland, OR. I'm currently a senior at BYU studying Physiology and Developmental Biology.

About Me

I'm a freshman at BYU in Provo, UT. I'm majoring in Physiology and Developmental Biology. I love studying anatomy and finding out how our bodies work. I hope to someday go into the medical field and become a genetics researcher. I love to travel! When I was younger I lived in Israel, and while I don't remember much it was a great learning experience. I'm excited to travel back in a few years with a study abroad program here at BYU. I've also traveled to Europe, mainly Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany, Denmark, and Russia. I love learning about other people and their cultures. History is probably my favorite subject because I love learning about people that came before and how they lived. I am also a huge dog lover!! I have a westie and her name is Camryn. She is the sweetest dog ever and I am definitely one of those people who thinks their animals are like their children. I love to read and I desperately wish I had more time for it. I am also currently serving a mission for the church. I am so excited to get the opportunity to serve the people of in Sapporo, Japan!! I'm a little nervous about the language and the food, but I'm so excited for this new experience to share the gospel with the people!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all my life. I was raised and baptized in the church with I was 8 years old. I grew up in a smaller town just outside of Portland, Oregon and although there we a significant number of Mormons in the community it was still considered a minority. I think during most of my childhood, I mostly relied on my parents and others telling me that the church was true, and I believed them, because it this seemed like a good church. It wasn't until I started high school and started taking seminary that I really wanted to try and figure out for myself if this church was the right place for me. My junior year of high school was the first time in my life that I took the challenge to read the Book of Mormon. I finally finished reading through the whole thing the night before my 18th birthday, my senior year of high school. I got a confirmation for myself that the Book of Mormon is true. They were real people, who encountered hard and real experiences. As I have gone off to college this year, I have realized that no longer am I relying on other people to tell me that the church is true. Now I know for myself that this gospel brings me the peace and happiness that I so desperately want in my life!

How I live my faith

I am very involved with my church! Since I'm a student, I attend church with lots of other students at BYU. I help out by teaching lessons to the other women. I love being a teacher because as I try to help others learn more, I find that I also get a lot more out of lessons when I take the time to prepare.
