Hi I'm Lisa

I am a twin, a mom, a PTA President, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have three handsome kids. I studied English at BYU and I love to read. We love to play Iron Chef, watch sports, and play music together. We love the guitar and drums and love to watch live bands in Los Angeles. All three of my kids are ridiculously funny and entertaining and I am pretty sure they get that from me. I think everyone should have three books they are currently reading, be able to make cookies without a recipe, and at least one great friend.

Why I am a Mormon

I love to study and read. I love to read about anything from the news, current events, literature, and science fiction. I love to read. I love to discuss with friends and family. I love the Bible and History. Studying and asking questions have led me to believe that Jesus Christ lives today. He walked the dusty roads of Jerusalem and Galilee. He lives now and knows each of us. I am constantly surprised how little I know but this much I know is true. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I believe there is a prophet on the earth today. I love my family and friends and I am grateful for every single day that I can read, ask questions, argue, laugh, joke, and for the joy I feel in serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a Mormon because it has taught me that all truth is part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love that the Gospel makes sense. I love that it teaches me to keep trying yet to keep loving life, family, friends, country, and community. I love that it teaches me to serve. I love that being a Mormon has taught me I am important to God. I love that being a Mormon pushes me to always learn, read, try new things, and to try again when I make mistakes. I am a Mormon because it is His Church.

How I live my faith

I love serving with the youth in my congregation. We love to go to In-and-Out, attend sports and school events together and simply spending time together. We like to get in heated discussions about politics, sports, books, or the best restaurant for enchiladas. We live our faith by being happy! The best way we can show our gratitude for family, the world, new ideas, and friends is to be happy and enjoy them. I like serving with my own children in Youth Group and they are kind enough to help me when I get too bossy or need a new hairstyle. The young people are a committed group. They love to serve each other with enthusiasm and kindness. I learn a lot about myself and I love learning more about Jesus Christ as we learn to be more like him by serving one another. I think we best serve each other by being our best selves. My best self involves a lot of spontaneous hamburger eating with teenagers that hang out at my house. I love my life! I think everyone is important and has a story. I love to talk and to listen to others tell their stories. I believe God has created us each with infinite potential. I love to get to know people and learn what they love and think. I love that God loves and knows us and the Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us that everyone is important, loved, and has a lot to offer their families and communities.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Lisa
The Holy Ghost testifies of Jesus Christ and a testimony is me knowing or sharing what I know to be true. I have questioned and studied and thought about a few essential things. First, I believe that God exists and is my Father. His son is Jesus Christ and he knows my name (and yours) and died for my sins. I am saved because of His Grace and love. I obey his commandments because I love Him and I know they will make me happy. I believe that God and Jesus love all people and provide their gospel to them through prophets. I believe there is a prophet today on the earth. I believe Joseph Smith was a prophet, just like I believe Peter, Moses, Abraham, and Noah were prophets. God loves his children and wants all of them to be happy and to know His Son Show more Show less
