Hi I'm Ed

I'm a mormon converted and baptized in 1977. I'm a born Canadian and now am a retired Mechanical Drafting Technician

About Me

I am a father of three boys, who are now grown up and have their own lives/families. I am a college grad and worked in the nuclear power industry for last 25-1/2 years. I love to play golf and read and watch movies and tv. I am still married now going on 39 years. I am a grandfather of 6 granddaughters and 1 grandson.

Why I am a Mormon

When the LDS missionaries visited my home for the first time, I was both skeptical yet intrigued by this "Book of Mormon" and how it came to be. I accepted a copy of the book at the door and was asked to read certain passages and the missionaries would return in a few days to see what I thought about it. I was a father of two boys at the time and living in an apartment building. Later when my wife came home that night she was surprised that I even had accepted the book, but I felt something special from those two young men at my door. The next week they returned and began to teach me the gospel and answer my many questions. I was not attending my own church very much at the time. All that the missionaries taught me made sense and it seemed like a difficult puzzle was coming together in regards to God, Jesus, and the plan of salvation. At the end of their first visit they asked me to pray vocally which I had not done in years and to do it kneeling. I thought this very odd and was really nervous but complied. To my utter amazement I said the most sincere prayer of my life asking to know the truth about things when all of us in the room were overcome with the spirit of God and we all shed tears (including those two missionaries). I knew then that something very special was about to enter my life. Before I accepted to finally be baptized, I wanted to know all things and praying and fasting became part of my earnest desires to know for myself what was being taught was true. After several months , after attending several of their church services I received the answer to all my prayers and got a strong, overwhelming testimony from the Holy Ghost that this was Christ's true church and that it was restored with all the proper ordinances and authority with a modern prophet to reveal to the world the will of the Lord. I still to this day have this strong testimony as a personal revelation to me that spurs me on to do what I do and continue in faith till the end.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1977 when missionaries knocked on my door introduced me to the gospel. It has changed my life completely since. I have had many opportunities to serve in my church that I attend on a weekly basis as a minimum and have accepted callings from various bishops to serve in ward positions such as priesthood quorums, financial clerk, executive secretary, scoutmaster,Sunday school teacher to adults and children. I also am engaged in the Home Teaching program where I visit assigned families on a monthly basis to teach and watch over their needs spiritually and temporally. I especially enjoyed working in LDS (our church) temples over many years taking part in the sacred work of ordinances there.
