Hi I'm Sarah

I'm an artist and musician. I am a student. I love animals and nature. I am going on a mission. I love my life. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love creating beautiful things, whether it be art or music, or whatever! I just love expressing myself. I am currently a student at a nearby university. I am preparing to go on a mission to New Jersey. I love spending time outdoors and with animals. I am a daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend. I love laughing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this Church contains the fulness of the Gospel--the same gospel that Christ preached and lived while He was on the earth. I choose to follow Christ because I love Him. He has done something for me that I never could have done for myself--that's why He's my Savior. He is my big brother, and He loves me. He made it possible for me to become clean. He prepared a way for me to return to live with my loving Father in Heaven again. Because of Him, I will be resurrected one day and be reunited with my loved ones. I am a Mormon because being such has allowed me to feel of my Savior's love. I know He is real. I know His Gospel is true. I know it can bring happiness in the lives of others, because it has brought happiness in mine. Knowing these truths takes away my worries; takes away my doubts; takes away my fears. I have nothing to be afraid of. I know that with God, I can do anything! I want others to know that too. I want them to see how the Gospel of Christ, the fulness of which is found in this Church, has changed my life and brought me peace and joy. I want them to know why I smile. I want them to smile too. Being Mormon is a lifestyle. Because I know this is God's plan for me, I wouldn't want to live my life any other way! This lifestyle, and the commandments that I live--they are liberating. I can find answers to all of my questions. I have nothing to be afraid of. I have a world of opportunity. I have found ways to express my unique identity with others. This Gospel is a Gospel of opportunity, and it has richly blessed my life. Through it I have made friends, built my skills, shaped my character, and changed my life. I am a Mormon because my Savior loved me enough to die for me. And He loved me enough to live for me. He showed the way. Now I'm just trying my best to follow in His footsteps.

How I live my faith

Both my current callings are in teaching positions. I enjoy visiting teaching, and meeting with other sisters in my area. Sometimes I like to surprise them with a card or cookies. I love to make friends with those I visit teach. I used to teach the precious 5-year-olds in primary, and now I get to teach the 8-year-olds. I prepare lessons to teach them on Sundays. It has been a wonderful experience for me. I was recently called to be a missionary so I can also share the love with others not of my faith.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

Sarah
The Book of Mormon is not the same thing as the Bible. "The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ," is just that--another witness of Jesus Christ. The Bible testifies of His life and ministry. The Book of Mormon adds yet another witness from those He visited in America after His crucifixion and resurrection, when He shared His Gospel among them. Because a lot of precious truths were lost from the Bible after Christ's crucifixion, The Book of Mormon was prepared by God. He knew what was going to happen. So He commanded ancient American prophets to keep a record, which they engraved on metal plates. Mormon was the prophet who abridged (basically summarized) the plates, which is why we call it "The Book of Mormon"; Moroni, on the other hand, was the prophet who eventually buried the plates in a hill. Centuries later (marking the end of the Apostasy, when Christ's true church was no longer on the earth), this same Moroni came as an angel to the boy Joseph Smith, and revealed to him where the plates were hidden. Joseph Smith sought truth, and was called of God to restore Christ's true church to the earth, and he did this by translating the gold plates through inspiration from God. The gold plates became "The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ." The precious truths that were lost from the Bible after the end of Christ's mortal ministry were restored--brought back in the form of this book, The Book of Mormon. It supplements and supports the Bible. Show more Show less
