Hi I'm Bethani

I'm a classical guitarist and book fanatic. I'm a Midwestern girl at heart. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying International Cultural Studies with an emphasis in Peacebuilding because I believe that this world needs more people focused on peace instead of war. I'm also really bad at math, and ICS is one field where you're guaranteed to not do any. In my free time I like to play guitar, sing, read books, quote movies and spend time with the awesome people that I get to share my life with. I keep busy, and while it's difficult to balance academics, a part-time job, being involved in school, social life, and church while still getting an adequate amount of sleep, I wouldn't have it any other way. Life is good!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, so I have always been Mormon. When I was young I mostly identified it as my culture and heritage, but now I can see that it is much, much more. For me, being a Mormon is everything. It defines everything I do and say. This is not because I'm brainwashed and don't know any better, but because I have sought the truth of this wonderful church for myself. I have read the words of the Lord in the Book of Mormon and prayed about their truthfulness. I have kept the commandments and received the promised blessings. I have felt the Holy Ghost whisper to me that what I learn in church and from the prophets are the words that God wants me to hear. I am a Mormon. I know it, I live it, and I love it. It is the single most important thing to me, and I would be lost without it.

How I live my faith

I believe that living your faith involves many tiny acts that when combined are able to accomplish a greater end. Reading your scriptures, praying, going to church, serving others, and keeping the commandments might seem so insignificant individually but when they are all done together for the right reasons then that is when we as humans achieve our full potential and accomplish miracles. I don't aspire to greatness (I will never be a prophet!) but I do strive everyday to do the little things and constantly improve by baby steps, not leaps and bounds. I know that as long as I keep moving in the right direction, even if my progress is really slow, then I will be doing what it is I need to do. I am also serving a mission in the heartland of America which is giving me a wonderful opportunity to serve my fellow men and my Heavenly Father because "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17) How true that is!

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Bethani
We proselyte because we love our Savior Jesus Christ and all of God's children. We want them to know the truths that we know so that they can receive the same blessings that we do and join with us in the Kingdom of God. We don't do it to add to our members, to seek personal gain, or to condemn sinners. Rather, we do it out of love for others and our strong belief that the Gospel is for everyone! Show more Show less
