Hi I'm Ryan D

I grew up in Connecticut, I currently attend school at BYU Idaho, I love sports, I love music. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I was born and raised in Connecticut and I love it there. My family converted to the church when I was 9 years old and it was the best decision my family ever made. It has definitely shaped my life and made me the person that I am today. I absolutely love sports any kind, I love playing and watching them. I also love music, I feel that it is one of the best ways to express ones feelings. I am an English Education major right now at BYU Idaho. I love English and can't wait until I can teach it. My absolute favorite part of English is poetry, I love writing it and want to publish my own book one day. Finally, I have wonderful friends and an absolutely amazing family. My Mom and Dad are some of the greatest people in the world and have always had my back and I would do anything for them. I have 3 awesome brothers, one passed away when he was 5 days old, his name is Aaron and the there is Christian, 19 and Addison, 11 and they are the best. I am a pretty lucky guy!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the church has been the best blessing in my life. As I said before I didn't grow up around a lot of other members and unfortunately I sometimes tried living the way of the world when I was younger and I felt that my life was miserable and that I could never be happy. I am a Mormon because when I live the ways that the church says we should, I feel happier, no matter what difficult things get thrown at me in my life I know that I can overcome those simple tests. Simply, I am a Mormon because I am happy and I know it has been such an amazing blessing for me and my family. I love being a Mormon and I wouldn't trade anything in the world for that. I struggled with my testimony at one of the hardest points in my life, it was when my grandfather was dying because of cancer, that summer I gained my testimony and knew that no matter what happened I would see him again. Since then I have known that this gospel is the truest thing on earth. We are so blessed to have a prophet that speaks to God and helps guide us.

How I live my faith

I grew up in a place where the church isn't that populated, so I grew up around a lot of people who were not members of the church and wanted to live the ways of the world, as a teen and young adult it was hard to be in situations like that. I live my faith by doing the things I can to take temptations out of my life. I live my faith by surrounding myself with friends who have the same outlooks and goals in life. One of the best things I like to do however, is reaching out to those who struggle or don't know the gospel, that definitely strengthens my faith. Here at school I love looking at the temple as I walk to class, i gives me a reminder of the way the world is and how I will do whatever I can to stay worthy and enter that temple.
