Hi I'm Kalin

About Me

Hey! :) My name is Kalin! I am from Lehi, Utah, however I have moved to Australia for two years to serve a mission! I love sharing this gospel with everyone I can, because it has brought me so much joy! I am the oldest of four children in my family. I have an awesome girlfriend who is also serving a mission in California, and she is just awesome! I love music, it is a huge part of my life! I have been playing piano for ten years now and counting! I love drama and musical theater. I've been involved in theater since I was 12 years old. And I try to continue to be involved even though I'm out of high school. I hope to attend college after my mission and become a dentist! And, well yeah. I'm a Mormon!! :)

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both LDS, and so ever since I was born, I have been a member of the Church. However, I have never felt pressured into staying in the church, or felt like I was forced into it. I love this Church and would never leave it! I have decided for myself to be a Mormon because of my testimony of Jesus Christ and of my Heavenly Father. Through the years I have learned so much about them, and of all that they have done for me. They have done more than I can ever repay. And I want nothing more than to show them how much I love and appreciate them. I love this gospel so much. It is what keeps me going. I know it, I live it, I love it. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ in the Sacred Grove. I know that Joseph founded the Church through revelation from God, and I know that the Church is still led through a living prophet who still receives revelation from God about how to best help his children. Us. I know we are all children of our Heavenly Father. He loves us more than we can ever comprehend. He only wants us to be happy, and I am so grateful for all He has done for me to help me achieve happiness. I love this Gospel, and I love my Heavenly Father and my older brother Jesus Christ. I love being a part of this church, and I would never leave it. Not for anything. The amount of happiness and peace and total joy it brings to me is worth so much more than I could ever describe.

How I live my faith

"Preach the Gospel at all times, and if necessary, use words." St. Francis. This quote is how I best try to live my faith. :) I choose to live it by sharing it! Especially at this time now, I am serving as a missionary in South Australia. I talk everyday with SO many people about my faith, trying my best to show my faith by living my faith. I wake up every morning and read my scriptures, the Bible and the Book of Mormon. These books (especially the Book of Mormon) have brought me SO much joy and peace in times of trial! By reading and pondering these books, I am able to live my faith better and know what God expects of me. :)

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Kalin
No, I believe that the purpose of the church is to help those who are not Mormon. We believe that every person on earth is our spiritual brothers and sisters, and we want to help every single one of them. Iam currently serving a mission in Adelaide, Australia, and every bit of that service I do is to help those who are not Mormon. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Kalin
We believe in our church that we can be baptized for people that have passed on, making it possible for those that did not receive the chance to be baptized to gain the blessings that come from baptism. Jesus Christ tells us in John 3:5 that to gain salvation, we must be baptized. We, by performing proxy baptisms, are making it possible for these souls to gain salvation. The people we are baptized for then have the opportunity to accept or decline what has been done in their behalf. Show more Show less
