Hi I'm Brad

I've lived in Idaho most of my life. I'm a city planner. I'm a triathlete. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm married and have four kids. Being a dad is both my greatest joy and my greatest challenge. As a family we enjoy being active and playing sports, especially baseball. We also enjoy a good movie and a bowl of popcorn. I am a book nerd. I have always loved to read. I especially love history, religion, self-improvement books like the 7 Habits of Highly-Effective People, biographies, classic literature...and the occasional spy novel. There are so many amazing ideas to be shared and lives to be learned about through reading. Recently I have also taken up triathlon as a sport. I love the physical and mental challenge. I'm not fast by any stretch of the imagination, but I finish. Unlike most, my favorite event is the swim. I love being in the water and have really developed an enjoyment for swimming in open water (but not TOO cold!).

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon for a lot of reasons, but primarily because of the way it makes me feel inside. Through the teachings of the church, including the Book of Mormon, Bible, and other books of scriptures and listening to our church leaders I feel closer to Heavnly Father and Jesus Christ. I feel closer to my family. I feel an increase in love and patience and empathy towards others. I feel a desire to try and live a little bit better and try to make the world a little bit better place to live. I'm a Mormon because I love the Book of Mormon. I love how it enhances the beautiful teachings of the Bible. I love that it teaches God's truths with simplicity and clarity. I love the peace I feel as I read the scriptures. I'm a Mormon because I love my family. I don't know of any other church that teaches I can be with my family even after death. Our church continually teaches about the importance of nourishing our family relationships. In today's crazy world, I appreciate that value. I'm a Mormon because I love my Savior Jesus Christ. My church teaches me how much Jesus loves me and teaches me how to feel His love and build a relationship with Him. I'm encouraged every day to try and be little bit more like Jesus. I'm a Mormon because I feel in my heart that the teachings of this church are true. I know that anyone that sincerely takes time to read and think about the Book of Mormon and to pray and ask God if it is true will feel in their heart that it is true too.

How I live my faith

Currently I am one of the leaders in my church's men's organization. We meet each Sunday to talk about our church duties, doctrine's of the gospel, and encourage each other to be a little bit better. We also do things like play basketball once or twice per week, occasionaly have dinner as a group, go camping with our sons, and other activities. The point is to find freindship and fellowship. In today's world of always being busy with work and trying to raise a family I think it would be hard to go out and find time to develop friendships. Our church provides a great avenue for getting out and associating with others. I would be much more of a homebody without our men's group. In th past I have also been a teacher for both youth and adults in our church. This is definitely my favorite way to participate in church. I love being a teacher because it challenges me to search the scriptures and really seek for a better understanding of God's word. I love the discussions that happen in the classroom. There are so many great people who share inspiring ideas and insights. I always leave a Sunday School class feeling a little more prepared to deal with life's day-to-day struggles.
